We are actively providing comprehensive guidelines, exemplified through examples, to assist researchers in migrating their recently preserved projects from ResearchGate (RG) to be integrated within the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) ecosystem.

In an earnest pursuit of scholarly enlightenment, we are currently engaged in the vanguard task of furnishing comprehensive guidelines, meticulously illustrated with illustrative examples. This noble undertaking seeks to aid researchers in the seamless migration of their recently conserved projects from the hallowed precincts of ResearchGate (RG) into the expansive embrace of the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) ecosystem.

The genesis of this initiative lies in the prologue of 2023, wherein ResearchGate, in an epochal proclamation, announced the retirement of its component projects. The solemn details of this pronouncement can be perused at the following archive of wisdom: Retirement of Projects.

https://help.researchgate.net/hc/en-us/articles/14293201054993-Retirement-of-Projects#:~:text=After%20much%20consideration%2C%20we%20decided,the%20progress%20of%20their%20work

Despite ResearchGate's benevolence in providing directions for users to extricate their intellectual treasures from RG, our current cognisance reveals that these venerable projects, laden with knowledge and potential, await a new haven on the vast expanses of the internet.

This juncture, pregnant with potential, beckons us to forge pathways that entice researchers to engage with various symbiotic wiki-ecosystems. Wikidata, Wikicite, Scholia, and Toolforge stand as luminous constellations in this celestial panorama.

As a nascent stride in this cosmic dance, we are ardently propelling the "Invasive Species" wiki-project forward. This endeavour has borne fruit in the augmentation of numerous Wikidata items, a testament to our commitment to scholarly enrichment.

For those enraptured by intricacies, pertinent links to the ongoing saga are proffered:

Learning and metrics edit

17. What do you hope to learn from your work in this project or proposal? (required)

We are actively engaged in a dynamic learning process, wherein we strategically adapt both ongoing and completed projects to harness existing data and code resources, as inspired by Wikifunctions. This adaptive approach allows us to delve into novel concepts effectively. One such exciting concept we are poised to explore is AcaWiki (https://acawiki.org/Home), which originated in 2008, a time when the capabilities of Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools were not as advanced as they are today. And Wikicite (http://wikicite.org/), an initiative to create a bibliographic database based on Wikidata.

Given the significant advancements in NLP, we find ourselves in a favorable position to leverage these sophisticated tools to enhance the content of Wikidata items associated with scientific publications. Specifically, our goal is to augment these items by incorporating comprehensive descriptive summaries, which currently misses in Wikidata items for scientific publications. These summaries will not only serve to enrich the information but also pave the way for a deeper exploration.

An intriguing dimension of our exploration involves aligning these descriptive summaries with the abstracts of Open-Access publications. This alignment holds the potential to propel the development of future tools aimed at pinpointing publications relevant to specific topics with unparalleled precision. This approach is particularly promising because it capitalises on the evolution of NLP capabilities, effectively marrying historical foundations with cutting-edge technology to advance the realm of scientific publication discovery.

20. What tools would you use to measure each metrics? Please refer to the guide for a list of tools. You can also write that you are not sure and need support. (required)

To gauge the progress of advancements, we will utilise the capabilities of specific tools. One such tool we'll rely on is https://wikidata-todo.toolforge.org/sparql_rc.php. This resource empowers us to assess the integration of new items through our sparql-query framework. By utilising this tool, we can effectively monitor the inclusion of fresh data.

Furthermore, we intend to harness the Wikidata API (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:REST_API) for a comprehensive evaluation. Through this API, we can compare various revisions of an item, enabling us to explicitly identify all newly added information. This will facilitate a more granular analysis of the changes made, enhancing our ability to track and quantify the progress achieved in expanding the dataset.

Together, the utilisation of these tools will provide us with valuable insights into the evolution of our project and the extent of its impact on the Wikidata ecosystem.
