Since 2021 when we started the LGBTQ+ wiki inclusion campaign in Nigeria; there have been lot of productive efforts and success which has resulted in the creation of more than 200 unique LGBTQ articles and the training of over 100 queer persons. But while this has been successful, the target however was mainly gay or lesbian persons with a lot of transgender and non-binary persons not benefiting from the campaign's success.
The reason is that trans persons in Nigeria are always not open about their gender identity due to discrimination and safety hence only gay or lesbian persons have best benefitted from our initiatives which have cumulatively resulted in the creation and improvements of mainly gay or lesbian Wikimedia content. So this project is mainly focused on trans and intrsex persons in Nigeria in collaboration with Transgender organizations in Nigeria which will happen during the global International Transgender Awareness Month (November); to train them on how to contribute to the Wikimedia projects through an in-person residential approach so they could improve more transgender topics that concern them as its easier for them to tell their stories rater from the perspective of a gay or lesbians. The project will still involve a one-month online Wikimedia writing contest centered on Transgender content.
I will ensure the safety of participants by partnering with foremost Trans organizations (FEMMEHIVE and TRANSGENDER NIGERIAN SUPPORT) as they have the experience of relating with trans persons and will do all the needful to ensure their safety.

The program will be inform of an in-person residential boot camp where we will house different transpersons around Nigeria for 3 days and train them on the nitty-gritty of contributing to the Wikimedia projects as we expect them to train others after the training. And also a 1-month long contest in the month of November open to the general Wikimedia conributors to contribute topics around transperson in Nigeria to win prizes.
The program is targeted at also celebrating the International Transgender Awareness Week in November. And we will be collaborating with two foremost Trans organizations in Nigeria: Femmehive and Transgender Nigerian Support who will be providing transgender participants.
