The ibani language is spoken by the Bonny and Opobo Kingdoms spread across two Local Government Areas in Rivers State of Nigeria – The Bonny Local Government Area and the Opobo-Nkoro Local Government Area. The Ibani Language is an endangered language and almost going on extinction, therefore it is cogent that a revival intervention , Through this project, we hope to engage and train 25 new and existing Wikimedia editors, photographers and culture documentarians equipping them how to leverage and explore wikimedia and its relative projects for personal and community development to enable them to become experienced editors, acquire basic editing and researching skills that will enable them create new articles and improve existing articles by adding more categories about the Ijaw's indigenous culture's and prominent people on Wikipedia

After the Wikimedia Ibani campaign was held last May 2024, it created a lot of impact and interest in reviving the Ibani language in Bonny Kindgom and to begin a language and culture documentation programme on Wikipedia. The need for a follow-up meeting is requested to encourage our newly discovered editors and reach those you indicated interest but missed the event. This is why the second edition has become imperative. This is to expand the scope of the project. Below was the objective of the campaign last month. The project is targeted at laying a solid foundation for the widespread use and adoption of Wikipedia editors in Nigeria and also bridging the content gap about Nigeria's local indigenous cultures, arts, and cuisines which contains little to no content on Wikipedia and thus enhancing the need for these areas to be greatly improved.
