1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

1. This is Wikidata's 10th Birthday Celebration 2022 Grant Proposal. The aim is to recruit new editors to Wikidata and dedicate it to the 10th Wikidata Birthday Celebration on October 29. 2022. Many graduates in my community are not aware of Wikidata. It is going to be an awareness program. It will also empower them with the knowledge of Wikipedia opportunities that will produce many wiki data contributors and data creation. This will also contribute to the general vision of Wikipedia, which is to contribute to open knowledge. It will bring the graduates of the Nsukka Community into visibility in the Wikimedia community and its world space.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

We will organize an introduction to Wikipedia Editing Basics events, the First day for the essentials, and day two on editing articles, adding pictures, uploading videos, etc. After, one week of revision, we will gather for another two days for practical editing. We will also organize meet-ups to ensure that the participants can now develop independently. It is going to work because we will create awareness about the events among the graduates of the Nsukka community. Many are wasting their time, watching movies because no one has engaged them properly with things that will make them creative and not consumers.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

First of all, I will create a dashboard for the event. Open it for participants to register for the events. Do enough publicity about the event. Secondly, Organize edit-at-thon, meet-ups, and follow up on the participants to ensure that there is a maximum impact. I will ensure that the events are covered and sent to event organizers of Wikidata's 10th Birthday 2022 celebration as a goodwill message.

4. Are your activities part of a Wikimedia movement campaign or event? If so, please select the relevant campaign below. If so, please select all the relevant campaigns from the list below. If "other", please state which.

1Lib1Ref, Art+Feminism

5. Do you have the team that is needed to implement this proposal?

Yes, I have. Superlative Campaign for Excellence is a team of University Staff that has compiled a series of teachings to ensure that Students in the University develop character and graduate with excellence. The members are the paid staff of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Moreover, we have Dr. Ngozi Osadebe, who is a Leader of Enugu User Group or hub in Southeastern Nigeria. She is a paid Librarian and also very conversant with Wikidata.

6. Please state if your proposal aims to work to bridge any of the identified CONTENT knowledge gaps (Knowledge Inequity)? Select up to THREE that most apply to your work.

Content Gender gap, Age (regency), Geography

6.1 In a few sentences, explain how your work is specifically addressing this content gap (or Knowledge inequity) to ensure a greater representation of knowledge.

In Nsukka where the University of Nigeria is situated, there is a serious knowledge gap between the contribution of females to knowledge and that of the male folks. We will ensure that the females are enrolled to open them up to contribute to the content on the things that concern them. Age is also an issue, most female youths are not aware that there are opportunities in Wikipedia that can make them relevant in the world of knowledge. Also where people live affects their access to knowledge.

7. Please state if your proposal includes any of these areas or THEMATIC focus. Select up to THREE that most apply to your work and explain the rationale for identifying these themes.

Education, Culture, heritage or GLAM , Diversity

8. Will your work focus on involving participants from any underrepresented communities?

Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation, Geographic , Ethnic/racial/religious or cultural background, Disabilities, Linguistic / Language, Socioeconomic status, Age, Digital Access

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities?

Female Graduates are my target participants from the Nsukka community, Enugu State, Nigeria. I will engage the participants through social media like Facebook, and WhatsApp, face to face contact before and after the events. In fact, I am already in contact with many youths via my youth empowerment program, titled Superlative Campaign for Excellence. We have even written a book which we are distributing to them to bridge this knowledge gap. Therefore, having come in contact with Wikipedia, I discovered that there are a lot of things that will engage the youth if they are aware of them in Wikipedia like covering their culture and uploading it to Wikipedia thereby making their culture visible to others, photographing cultural events and monument buildings that can be displayed on the Wikipedia for research purposes, which other people in the world do not know about. From time to time, we will be meeting to embark on a wiki project that will promote our culture and environment. We will as well keep in touch via WhatsApp, etc. if this project is supported. We will give the best-performed participants incentives that will encourage them to bring others.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

A very conducive space will be rented, and internet access will be available to every participant, those that do not have laptops, we will rent laptops for them, and everybody will be allowed to contribute, ask questions, share benefits from the program, and will be given refreshment, etc. Before we start, the friendly policy will be made known to everyone to ensure that no one is abused or insulted. Security will be put in place to ensure the safety of every participant.

11. Please tell us about how you have let your Wikimedia communities know about the planned activities and this proposal. Use this space to describe the processes you carried out to make the community more involved in planning this proposal. Please link the on-wiki community discussion(s) around the proposals.

I discussed this with Dr. Ngozi Osadebe, who is the leader of the Wikimedia User Group Enugu Hub. The relevant parties are aware of the event and we are planning together.

Learning, Sharing, and Evaluation edit

However, we assure you that we must definitely touch those areas and try our best to meet up with the targets within our limited time and resources.
