- 1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.
Despite the fact that the universal human right declaration apply equally to all sexes, for ages, girls and women have been discriminated and marginalized in various aspects of their lives in different societies. However, 1979 convention on human right explicitly emphasized the protection of the rights of women and girls on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women. Apart from the protection of the girl child, this proposal is still emphasizing that in recognizing and keeping the rights of girl-child, cultural information in different regions will be provided to governments and regions. The public should also be educated on the importance of girls in the society and why societies should not deny girls the right to proper education, good health care, proper nutrition, opportunity to share family inheritance with male members of the family and right to wear decent clothes. Honouring and keeping these rights will empower many girl-child.

Most information on the girl-child on Wikipedia are written by foreign authors, who have little or no knowledge of the cultural background in African context. This work aims to provide information on Africans using African stories written by African authors.

The target participants are postgraduate students from the faculty of social science. Among them are two women with disabilities. All the participants are from the University of Nigeria community. Before the progrmme, participants will be engaged in WhatsApp discussion, emails and phone calls. The main activities will will engage participants on a two-days training, followed by another two days of main edit-a-thon activities. There will be a post-edit-a-thon discussion on the success and challenges of the programme.
