Physical Training And Workshop on Lexemes on Commons and Wikidata in Karadua Community

Q. Indicate if it is a local, international, or regional proposal and if it involves several countries? (optional)

Q2. If you have answered regional or international, please write the country names and any other information that is useful for understanding your proposal.

R. If you would like, please share any websites or social media accounts that your group or organization has.

1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

We have a great challenge as Wikipedia editors but don't know how to contribute in Wikidata and how to upload photo, video, sounds and improve in Common, although some of us attended wikidata workshop but majority don't know how to edit wikidata and Common,With this proposal most of our less experience editor will know how to contribute in Common and wikidata. Most of the Hausa Wikipedia editors have few contribution in wikidata. As a result of the different projects I've led in Karadua community like, Wikipedia workshop in Funtua, Wiktionary workshop and training in Karadua Community, Wikipedia Awerness and promotion in Kafur, there are more editors of Wikimedia projects in the region especially from Funtua, Dandume, Kafur, Bakori, Danja, Malumfashi, Kankara, Musawa, Matazu, Faskari, Sabua. Many editors are focused on Wikipedia and Wiktionary. Individually, editors often asking me and Hamza Dk for more information about many questions related to Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata, because of this I understand some problems with editors that I wanted to solve. The problems include; Lack of contribution to Wikimedia Commons & Wikidata Lack of experience in using files especially Wikidata items and photos to other Wikimedia Projects like Wikipedia

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

The main approach to achieve the desired change is to train individuals to contribute to Wiki projects such as Commons and Wikidata. This project would be developing the capacity of new and existing editors in contributing to Wikidata and Commons as well as fostering exchange of ideas, informed engagements, concepts and resources and related tools that will aid the advancement of Wikidata items and Commons objectives, the project within the Karadua community.

The organizers & facilitators of this program will spend time in:-
1. Creating awareness about Wikidata and Commons
2. Commons and Wikidata training to the new and existence Wikimedias editors
3. Preparing a list of words
4. Uploading the words to Wikimedia Commons using appropriate labels
5. Training about Common and Hausa lexicography
6. Recording the words

The change am given trying to bring about is to improve items on Wikidata and upload photo, video, sound on Commons as most items are lacking information and also, to ensure that items on Wikidata and uploaded Common file are having the right and relevant information to them, by combing existing items 'checking and removing errors', deleted unreliable sources, adding reliable sources, checking and deleted grammar/spelling errors, removing duplicate items and also ensuring properties are having the correct values to them. The first purpose is to improve and upload the quality, reliability, and credibility of Wikidata items lacking information as we are having a lot of items with no relevant information nor sources like (reference) for information accuracy.
