1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

The changes we are trying to bring out is to have a panoramic and drone view images of some prominent places, heritage and monuments. This is because Nigerian related articles lack those images in relevant Wikipedia pages, seeing panaromic view of heritage and monuments helps to make effectiveness and efficiency of knowledge acquiring.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

We plan to carry out this photo tour with the help of Nigerian Commons Photographers User Group members and other Nigerian communities like Yoruba, Igbo and Fulani. A strategic plan to visit 2 states in every geographical region in Nigeria, in every state we will carry out a two day photo walk to get the shots.

I will lead this project with the help of Nigerian Commons Photographers User Group members, in person of Musa Vacho77, Uncle Bash007 from Hausa Community and Lucy Iwuala from Igbo Community and members from four Nigerian communities.

We selected geography to cover some prominent places, monuments and heritage in Nigeria.

During the Edith a thon we would definitely comply to the UCOC and to the Wikimedia Foundation friendly space policy, to ensure safety and privacy of participants.

15. What do you hope to learn from your work in this fund proposal?

We wanted to see that over 100 articles have panorama image in different language Wikis, having that will help readers to understand a written article more visually. Moreover, nowadays as an innovative concept, it is required in every article to have a panaroma image under section Gallery, that’s in article related to places, monuments, heritages and what have you. Looking at that angle this project will work effectively to see that we created the change want through through the strategic plan.

Yes some times we experience difficulties or technical issues that result in not getting the proper metrics measures, if such happens we will follow up to users contributions to see the number of images that have uploaded/linked

We will use the following tools;

  • Outreach Dashboard: to create the event program and track users uploads, though sometimes a page link created in Outreach Dashboards results in page not found, to scale through this obstacle a category in Wikimedia Commons will be created to categorize every image uploaded.
  • Glamorous Tool will be used to figure out the number of images linked to various Wikis.
  • WMF Xtools will be used to track users contribution in Wikimedia Commons in case of technical issues.
