R. If you would like, please share any websites or social media accounts that your group or organization has.

1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Over the years, the people from Edo State have passed down indigenous knowledge, stories, culture and tradition to the younger generation in the form of Folklore. The Edo folklore which usually come in the form of folk dance, folk tales, folk art, folk song, folk custume or proverb, have been used in time past to convey social norms and pass down life lessons to the younger generation. In fact, it marked a significant part of the Edo people and culture. However, with increasing modernization and westernization in many parts of the state, less attention is being paid to Folklore by the older generation, leaving the younger generation with little or no knowledge of Edo Folklore. This therefore put many aspects of Edo Folklore on the brink of extinction as they are mainly undocumented. Even the few documented folklore are not readily accessible as they are not in open platforms. This therefore reinforces the need for documentation of Edo folklore for preservation and educational purposes. This project is proposed to document many aspects of Edo folklore in multimedia formats (images, audio, and audio-visual) during field visits and upload same on Wikimedia Commons for wider accessibility and with open license. Furthermore, the project also intend to use the recorded multimedia files on relevant Wikipedia articles in different languages.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

The main strategy for achieving the changes proposed in this project is to engage in multimedia recording of Edo Folklore by collaborating with different Edo indigenes and cultural groups. This, I believe, will help in the preservation of many Edo Folklore. Additionally, the project will engage in training of volunteers on how to use the Wikimedia media repository (Wikimedia Commons) for the purpose of preservation of the multimedia files. It is my understanding that building capacity of participants will also help achieve the goal of this project as participants will be able to upload the documented work to Wikimedia Commons and subsequently link them to their relevant Wikipedia pages. These approaches will help achieve the overall goal of this project given that the project will require a team effort.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

To achieve the goal of this project, different activities will be carried out. They include:

1. Organize online/media outreach to gather additional information and recruit volunteers needed to successfully complete this project.
2. Organize a virtual sensitization training/workshop for the participants and volunteers with respect to multimedia documentation and Wikimedia Commons.
3. Identify and select sites/location for documentation
4. Organize atleast 5 Field visits to document and record Edo folklore as told/displayed by Edo natives
5. We will equally organize an upload-a-thon and edit-a-thon after the recording. This is to enable us upload the multimedia files to Wikimedia Commons and thereafter link the files to relevant Wikipedia articles
6. Add recruited volunteers to Edo Wikimedia Hub etc.
4. Are your activities part of a Wikimedia movement campaign or event? If so, please select the relevant campaign below. If so, please select all the relevant campaigns from the list below. If "other", please state which.

Art+Feminism, Wiki Loves Africa, WikiGap
