6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

This project aims to enhance the representation of Ghanaian and African women on Wikiquote. By creating new pages, updating existing ones, adding photos, and correcting categories, it strives to accurately and comprehensively document the voices, contributions, and achievements of notable women from these regions. Additionally, it intends to launch new Wikiquote projects in Akan and Ghanaian Pidgin English, Ghana's most dominant languages, to preserve notable quotes in these languages. This will help rectify the current underrepresentation and ensure the digital landscape reflects the diversity and richness of African women's insights and accomplishments.

Statistically, there is a severe underrepresentation of African women on platforms like Wikiquote and Wikipedia, with only 26% of Wikipedia biographies covering women. This skews the digital knowledge base and marginalizes their contributions. With only about 400 active contributors, the English Wikiquote severely limits its capacity to comprehensively document the world's diversity.

Furthermore, this campaign aims to increase the involvement of female students in the engineering department, as engineering remains a male-dominated space. It is set to build the capacity of female engineers to compete equally with males for opportunities. By supporting the 2030 Wikimedia movement strategy and expanding the coverage regarding women's visibility online, this initiative will contribute to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals 5 (Gender Equality) and 4 (Quality Education), achieving gender equality and empowering all women and female tertiary students in Ghana.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

1. We will organize two in-person workshops and three virtual sessions (two trainings and one tutorial session) to teach tertiary students how to edit Wikiquote and its sister projects, as well as how to use organizational tools such as Obsidian to improve their productivity. These sessions will cover:

   *Basics of the Open movement
*Wikiquote and its sister projects editing
*Enhancing Wikimedia projects' editing productivity with organizational tools such as Obsidian, Notion, etc.

2. We will establish a platform for experienced Wikimedia project editors to guide and support new editors during the workshops and training sessions.

3. We will collaborate with WinE (Women in Engineering) at KNUST and the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, leveraging their resources and networks. We will also explore additional partnerships with local women's organizations, libraries, and media houses to broaden our impact.

4. We will implement robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, tracking new pages, updates, photos, and categories added. We will gather participant feedback to drive data-driven improvements to the project's quality and impact.

(required) Include more details of the team, including their roles, usernames, Wikimedia group, and whether they are salaried, volunteers, consultants/contractors, etc. Team members involved in the grant application need to be aware of their involvement in the project.
