Part 1 Understanding your work edit

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

As planned, I carried out awareness campaigns for three days and one virtual meetup plus physical trainings for the participants. These steps have helped in making the editing process very easier from the participants' point of view. I understand that through the supportive attitude they demonstrated during the second meetup where the first attendees helped in guiding the attendees of the second meetup through the processes from account creation to making their first edit and that was really a huge success.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

Personal engagement on one-on-one basis has helped in bringing courage for the shy participants. As a northern lady, I do know that there are girls/women who are intelligent enough to give than expected but at times shyness overcome them. So, what I did was that apart from the general engagement, I befriended all the participants and that made them so comfortable with me, I then begin to show them how easy and simple the things are (encouraged them). Soon, they begin to develop a habit of asking deep questions in order to know how to do it, that approach has been a strong pillar among the other things that supported the the project success.

3. Please use this space to upload media and other files that help tell your story and impact.

4. To what extent do you agree with the following statements regarding the work carried out with the support of this Fund? You can choose “not applicable” if your work does not relate to these goals.

Our efforts during the Fund period have helped to...
A. Bring in participants from underrepresented groups Strongly agree
B. Create a more inclusive and connected culture in our community Strongly agree
C. Develop content about underrepresented topics/groups Strongly agree
D. Develop content from underrepresented perspectives Strongly agree
E. Encourage the retention of editors Strongly agree
F. Encourage the retention of organizers Strongly agree

5. Is there anything else you would like to share about how your efforts helped to bring in participants and/or build out content, particularly for underrepresented groups?

Topics about women or more precisely women's biography is underrepresented on Wikipedia and local Wikipedias particularly lacked them the most when compared to the amount of those available on English Wikipedia. So, this project has helped in given the women participants involved the voice and chance to bring their fellow women celebrities and those with notability into limelight by creating and/or translating their articles into Hausa, Fulfulde and Pidgin and other similar versions of local Wikipedia.

Part 2: Your main learning edit

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

1. I want to see that the project help in minimizing the content gender gap by creating new contents about women Observation: it's evident that the project has achieved the goal for minimizing the content gender gap by providing over 2000 articles.

2. I want to see that I encourage female participation in Wikimedia volunteering from north.

Observation: this is achieved as it increases the number of women editors by 39 individuals from northern Nigeria.

3. I want to know if I could create impact in the Wikimedia projects and in the lives of the participants involved.

Observation: this was also achieved and can be deducted from the impact the project made in going beyond the targeted metrics.

7. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences?

No, except for a fact that in the first meetup not all the entire participants were able to make it as it falls in a week before the school resume from their end of semester holiday but in the second meetup they appeared beyond the number expected as some whom on resumption claimed that they have to be benefited from the training and they were given the chance because we believe Wikipedia is for everyone.

8. How do you hope to use this learning? For instance, do you have any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future?

9. Documentation of resources: Use this space to upload any documents that would be useful to share with others (e.g. communications material, training material, presentations).
