Description of the Role: I’m responsible for conducting training sessions on how to edit and contribute to Kiswahili Wikipedia and Wiktionary (Formerly done by late Kipala. I was posing as his standby guy). I will thoroughly prepare all training materials, lead interactive workshops, and provide ongoing support to new editors and previous ones who needs my long-standing experience capacity. The facilitator will also track progress and gather feedback to improve current and possible future workshops at large.

The main challenge we are addressing is the limited awareness and involvement of Kiswahili speakers on Wikipedia and Wiktionary. Many potential contributors are not well informed on how to edit and add content effectively in Kiswahili, which results in a shortage of diverse and thorough information on these platforms.

1. Add 1000 new articles to Kiswahili Wikipedia. 2. Improve 500 existing articles by adding references and proper categories. 3. Add 500 new entries to Kiswahili Wiktionary using the standard Swahili Dictionary and clean up existing entries.- 4. Train 20 new Wikipedia editors in Morogoro. 5. Train 20 new Wiktionary editors, some in Morogoro and some in Dar es Salaam. 6. Increase awareness and usage of Wikipedia in middle-level schools with adequate resources, demonstrating the benefits using samples from Wikipedia for Schools.

We conducted online discussions through a virtual meetings organized by the Wikimedia User Group Jenga Wikipedia ya Kiswahili.
