Wiki Loves Africa (WLA) is an annual contest where anyone across Africa can contribute free media that is relevant to their experience to Wikimedia Commons for use on Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects in the Wikimedia movement, also make this shared media freely available for the rest of Humankind. This contest will be open to all interested professional and non-professional photographers in Nigeria with a focus on the members of the Igbo Wikimedia Commons community. This year's contest is themed 'Climate and Weather'.

Photos to be uploaded will be available for use on other project websites of the Wikimedia Foundation. Participants will be trained on how to participate, and knowledge of the nature of copyrights, Creative Commons Licenses, and Wikimedia Commons licenses.

This project aims to introduce the WLA contest to the IG Wikimedia community focused on contributing through Wikimedia Commons. There will be two training sessions in the build up to the contest proper and the the contest itself which will last for about 30days.
