- 6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)
The change we are striving to bring through our initiative is to enhance representation and visibility of notable female personalities in Ghana on the Ghanaian Pidgin Wikipedia. The main challenge we aim to address is the underrepresentation of women on Wikimedia projects, which is a crucial aspect of ensuring a comprehensive and diverse portrayal of Ghana's history and achievements. The current state of the Ghanaian Pidgin Wikipedia lacks adequate coverage of significant female figures, contributing to a gender imbalance in the representation of notable personalities. This is a problem as it perpetuates gender stereotypes and limits the accessibility of diverse role models for the community. To address this challenge, our main approach is to organize a month-long edit-a-thon and awareness campaign during the month of March. This campaign will engage the Ghanaian Pidgin Wikimedians Community in actively contributing content that highlights the achievements, contributions, and stories of notable female personalities in Ghana. We will leverage various outreach activities, including workshops, webinars, and social media campaigns, to raise awareness about the importance of gender diversity on the Ghanaian Pidgin Wikipedia. Through these initiatives, we aim to inspire community members to actively participate in the editing process and contribute to a more inclusive representation of Ghanaian history and culture. By the end of the campaign, we anticipate a substantial increase in the number of articles dedicated to notable female personalities on the Ghanaian Pidgin Wikipedia. This will not only address the current gender disparity but also serve as a sustainable foundation for ongoing efforts to maintain gender balance in the representation of Ghanaian figures on the platform. In summary, our goal is to bring about a positive change in the representation of women on the Ghanaian Pidgin Wikipedia by actively involving the community in editing and raising awareness during the month of June. Through this approach, we aspire to contribute to a more inclusive and diverse portrayal of Ghanaian history and culture, fostering a sense of pride and inspiration among the community

- Editing Workshops: Facilitate hands-on editing workshops to instruct participants on contributing and editing articles for the Ghanaian Pidgin Wikipedia. Offer guidance on enhancing articles related to notable female personalities in Ghana.
- Content Creation Competition: Launch a content creation competition during the editing workshop. This month-long contest will engage participants in creating or improving Wikipedia articles. The competition will conclude at the end of the month, with incentives such as awards, certificates, or recognition for outstanding contributions.
- Outreach Events: Plan and execute awareness campaigns through visits to media stations with urban reach that use Ghanaian Pidgin. Emphasize that Ghanaian Pidgin is not solely an oral language but a written one, encouraging public participation. Actively engage in various community events throughout the month.
