The change that we are trying to bring about is to empower the youth in Lagos State with the skills and tools to participate in Wikimedia projects. We believe that this is important because it will provide a platform for youth to contribute to the creation and dissemination of knowledge and allow them to develop creative and collaboration skills in the digital space. Additionally, it will support the preservation of Lagosian culture and heritage through the creation of Wikipedia and Wikidata contents..

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

Our main approach is to organize a series of activities that will promote awareness of Wikimedia projects, provide training on the use of Wikimedia tools, and encourage participation in editing content. We will organize a seven-day training workshops, edit-a-thons, and outreach events that will be accessible to all young persons between the ages of 18 to 35, regardless of educational background or linguistic ability. We believe these will be effective because they will provide participants with practical skills they can use in creating contents in Wikipedia, Wikidata and subsequently be part of the Wikimedia movement.

The details of our activities can be found in this page: Empowering the Youth in Lagos Through Wikimedia Projects

We will partner with Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development Our partner will provide the space for the workshops and help to reach the participants which are youth from age 18 to 35.

This partnership between Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development and Wikimedians of Lagos User Group will empower young people in Lagos State to gain digital skills while contributing to knowledge sharing through Wikimedia projects. We strongly believe that this partnership will significantly contribute to youth development in Lagos State while ensuring the sustainability of Wikimedia projects.

The program and timeline of the event activities can be found in the event landing page and I will make use of the training modules in the outreach dashboard for the Wikipedia and Wikidata trainings.
