The change we are about to make is to Document the culture and Heritage of the Kanuri people in Borno state which is currently lacked in Wikipedia as the language is in the stage of incubator stage which might nearly get its own site soon,hence the need to upload them into wikimedia commons, for people to examine and have access to the Kanuri heritage and their way of life. There are no or few content about Kanuri people and their way of life in Wikipedia, with this project we hopefully wish to bridge the content gap so as to add value to the open knowledge

  • A photowalk that will add 400 pictures about the Kanuri Culture and Heritage to wikimedia commons,
  • We will recruit new editors,and engaged with existing editors to make it color ful.
  • We will add and improve contents in wikimedia commons.
  • We will organise a workshop to engage with new and existing users to teach them how to upload quality image's to wikimedia commons.
  • The photowalk will be in the following places. A.Shehuri B.Monday market

C. Maiduguri Metropolis D. Maiduguri National Museum. This places have a lot to say about the culture of the Kanuri people because history of the Kanuri Culture will never be completed without mentioning them, hence the need to focus on such places.

The team entails the following experience individual listed below:

An experienced editor both in kanuri wikipedia and in wikimedia commons will be the leader of the project. He have serves in various capacity as an active editor, currently he is among the core front element ensuring the scaling of Kanuri Wikipedia currently in incubator to own it's site.

  • Facilitator- Anasskoko

An experience editor and co-founder of Nigeria Commons photographers user group(NCPUG) and has lead many photography projects, facilitate in many Wikipedia projects.

  • Member 1- MohammedBama123

An experience editor in wikimedia commons and an administrator in Kanuri Wikipedia incubator.

  • Member 2- 787IYO

He is an active wikimedian who have vast experience in documentation, editing. He has organise and co-authored alot.

The target community are the Kanuri community in Maiduguri Borno state Capital. We have a Whatsap and Telegram group for discussion and online mentoring for new editors respectively.
