The objective of open source through Wikimedia projects is to democratize the contribution of knowledge to the internet for global consumption, hence the aim for this project to utilize wiki projects such as Wikipedia, Wiki Commons, Wikidata and Wiki Voyage to make knowledge of especially indigenous African music and sounds available online. This project hopes to facilitate the digital conversion of native musical instrument sounds, pictures, stories as well as write articles on musical projects that are at risk of being forgotten except it is submitted to the internet. 3. Digital Archives Creation through Wiki Portal: This project plans to establish a digital archive or central repository leveraging on wiki portals to systematically organize and store digitized indigenous sounds and distribute free knowledge about African music, accessible to researchers, musicians, music knowledge enthusiasts and the community, hence, preserving cultural heritage and extending these information to the global internet for adoption, reuse, resource exchange nd collaboration under creative commons licenses.
