Part 1 Understanding your work edit

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

Being it a project mean to serve as a meet up of the entire community members were they are expected to gather physically to be introduced to other Wikimedia projects apart from the Fulfulde Wikipedia which they have been contributing to and also learn the standard orthography of the Fulfulde language, I first notified the community members about the days the events are going to take place as 16-18 of September and also asked them to expressed their interest for participation using a Google Form. From there, I learned that some participants have a specific interest depending on the time they will be available in the fixed days and while some prefer to learn both, some of them have chose to learn one between the Wikidata and the Wikimedia Commons. These differences in preferences made me to come up with a solution of splitting up the community on the basis of their interest were they both have the opportunity to participate at their convenience and this have lead us to have the most unstressful, most convenient and most successful project. However, despite these, we had gathered all the community members together during the Orthography workshop training and also used the opportunity to introduced again both the two related Wikimedia projects which the event focused on them. From there, the community members were actively engaged and monitored through the WhatsApp group which led to bringing the huge success of the project.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

Yes, all the strategies implemented were effective because it was like one thing supported the other especially the grouping system which has helped a lot in making the sessions interactive and engaging because that way has giving all the participants a room in contributing to the conversation, asking questions about a particular area in the presentation and also assisted in discussion and exploring more ideas that will help move the community forward among other things.

4. To what extent do you agree with the following statements regarding the work carried out with the support of this Fund? You can choose “not applicable” if your work does not relate to these goals.

Our efforts during the Fund period have helped to...
A. Bring in participants from underrepresented groups Strongly agree
B. Create a more inclusive and connected culture in our community Strongly agree
C. Develop content about underrepresented topics/groups Strongly agree
D. Develop content from underrepresented perspectives Strongly agree
E. Encourage the retention of editors Strongly agree
F. Encourage the retention of organizers Strongly agree

5. Is there anything else you would like to share about how your efforts helped to bring in participants and/or build out content, particularly for underrepresented groups?

Friendliness and making everyone feel welcomed to contribute his/her ideas as well as making each and every community member feel important has helped me a lot in gathering the members of our community all together as participants of this project.

Part 2: Your main learning edit

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

1. I learned that level of Fulfulde volunteers contributions in Fulfulde language on other Wikimedia Projects was at nearly zero level because of the fact that the community members being newly recruited, did not have the required skills and knowledge of how to contribute in the other Wiki projects. And this project has confirmed my expectation that if they will be gradually continued to be introduced to them, they will be doing amazing contributions like in this situation.

2. I also learned that frequent physical contact is building the cordial relationship among the members as they are learning to mutually respect each others opinion. Also, it has strengthened the coordination, commitment and team work among the Fulfulde editors.
3. In the end, I also learned that through proper implementation of strategies and constant engagement of the volunteers, all target can be met within the stated period of time.

7. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences?

No, nothing strange has happened.

8. How do you hope to use this learning? For instance, do you have any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future?

Yes, this has broaden again my experience and will hope to continue using the ideas learned from this project.

9. Documentation of resources: Use this space to upload any documents that would be useful to share with others (e.g. communications material, training material, presentations).
