Looking around our campus environment, there’s a current prevalence of inequality of gender. That is why we as a wikimedia community having discovered this trend of injustice. We see the art and feminism campaign as an opportunity to create awareness to dismantle this oppression.

This program aims to train its participants on how to create female articles on wikipedia. And also emphasize the importance of accurate and neutral content while encouraging participants to showcase the achievements and stories of female journalists in Nigeria. Practical sessions on Wikipedia editing and guidelines can empower them to contribute effectively to Wikipedia, fostering a more inclusive representation of women in journalism on the platform.

Through the art and feminism campaign we intend to build a community of activists that is committed to closing information gaps related to gender,feminism, and the arts, using Wikipedia as a tool.

Introduction of participants and invited guests.

General Introduction session to introduce participants to Wikipedia, and its projects, the current gaps, and art +Feminism.


Short speech/introduction on what art and feminism is and its importance in our present day society.

We will have 2 training sessions aimed at teaching editors how to edit articles carefully without going against editing rules. Also,how to add images to articles, What to edit on.


Edit-a-thon/Contest ; The contest will last for two weeks. Where editors contribute to gender related articles as much as they can. With prizes attached.

I am a founder of Wikimedia community User Group Osun based in Nigeria, a community for Osun State-based Wikipedians. I have participated in several Wikipedia workshops, trainings and also organized trainings for New editors on how to edit Wikipedia. I have also organized an awareness program about Wikipedia on how to contribute to Wikimedia movement and core content policies in my community.

Target participants are majorly young women that holds a position in any aspect on campus, and other active and passionate volunteers. With the program dashboard, I will be able to track all their contributions before, during and after the event. We already have a WhatsApp community, I am going to engage them through the whatsap channel.

11. How did you discuss the idea of your project with your community members and/or any relevant groups? Please describe steps taken and provide links to any on-wiki community discussion(s) about the proposal. (required) You need to inform the community and/or group, discuss the project with them, and involve them in planning this proposal. You also need to align the activities with other projects happening in the planned area of implementation to ensure collaboration within the community.

The team and some of our community members had zoom meeting on 2nd of march where we discussed important issues. From the meeting we were able to come up with the date for the event, our prospect, the value we intend to add to the campus society and how we would implement them.

We suggested working with 25 active and passionate editors/volunteers who will through available resources make incredible contributions. We also came up with the set of special invitees that will be present to let us know the role of advocating art and feminism on campus. One of them is Dr Diyaolu( an already active editor on wikimedia). 
 Goggle document was used to track our community members interest. Through the document we were able to come up with more ideas on what to do during the event, how to ensure participants are adequately taken care of without any barrier.

From the art and feminism campaign I aim to build a community of activists that is committed to closing information gaps related to gender, feminism, and the arts, to put an end to sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression and to achieve full gender equality in law and in practice using Wikipedia as a tool.

Our major tool is the Dashboard which we will use to track all registered editors. It has been created.

During our publicity (publicity is still ongoing),Goggle form is our major tool to know how passionate and enthusiastic our volunteers are. And also to know whatever challenges they tend to face during the course of the programme.
