- 6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)
1. Gender Gap in Content: In Ghana, we've noticed that there's a significant gender imbalance on Wiki projects. Even though the country has more women, there are fewer articles or content about notable women. This is a problem that we care deeply about because we want to play our part in reducing the bias that exists in the Wikimedia movement.
- 2. Engaging the Community: As our community continues to grow, we've observed that some of our members have become less active due to irregular activities. To address this issue, we've decided to launch a six-month project series. Our goal is to not only assess the skills, contributions, and dedication of our community members but also to find ways to ensure ongoing collaboration and community engagement.
- 7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.
Addressing the Content Gender Gap: To bridge the gender gap in our content, we plan to host a series of editathons and workshops for our community members, focusing on articles featuring underrepresented genders. Over the course of this project, we'll organize eight editathons, with five taking place at Lakeside University College and the remaining three at Pentecost University College. Our goal is to create or enhance over 600 articles and items on Wikipedia and Wikidata. We're determined to ensure that more than half of these articles are dedicated to women.
Fostering Community Engagement: To boost community engagement, we'll convene a meeting that brings together both our community members and team. This gathering will serve as a platform to reflect on past events and evaluate the overall progress of the community. Additionally, we will equip our members with the skills and knowledge necessary to sustain the community's vitality. This approach is rooted in the principles of fairness in decision-making, the identification of impactful topics, and the evaluation of our quarterly activities.
- 8. Describe your team. Please provide their roles, Wikimedia Usernames and other details. (required) Include more details of the team, including their roles, usernames, Wikimedia group, and whether they are salaried, volunteers, consultants/contractors, etc. Team members involved in the grant application need to be aware of their involvement in the project.

Diversity and Inclusion: We're committed to proactively promoting diversity in our community here in Ghana. To achieve this, we will make a conscious effort to involve women who are currently underrepresented in the movement. These women will assume essential roles in our activities, including organization, facilitation, and active participation.
Geographic Representation: Our community comprises individuals from various regions across West Africa. We're dedicated to ensuring that people from underrepresented regions have a voice and presence within our community.
Ethnic/racial/religious or cultural Backgrounds: Our community is made up of people from various underrepresented religious, ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds. We celebrate and embrace this diversity as a strength.
Sustaining Engagement: We plan to retain participants by implementing a one-on-one mentorship system. This approach ensures ongoing engagement of participants in Wikimedia activities. Additionally, we track and acknowledge the contributions of community members through the Outreach Dashboard, providing incentives and recognition for top contributors who continue to contribute even after our events.

Learning and metrics
edit- 17. What do you hope to learn from your work in this project or proposal? (required)
1. How to reach new editors or volunteers? In the recent events we had, we communicated with participants by getting to know them and explaining what the movement is about. We then made them anticipate the event by using the "tell a friend to tell a friend" method which boosted their motivation to attend the event. This time, we hope to maintain that method and also continue learning from the process. We also plan to use the school's structures to promote the movement in the institution.
