私は日本各地でこれまでウィキペディアに対する理解を広めるため、編集者を増やすための活動を対外的にやってきました。しかしながら日本国内の移動において旅費や宿泊費などの問題から、私を招へいしたくてもできないという声を幾度となく聞いてきました、今回、2023年4月から2024年3月にかけての、日本では基本となる一年間でいくつかの地域でイベントを行うことで、より広い地域からウィキペディアの編集者が生まれていくきっかけを作りたいと思います。

若年層（学生）に対しては、ウィキペディアの仕組みや編集方針などからネットリテラシー、情報リテラシーを強調してレクチャーを行います。「ウィキペディアタウン」では地元の図書館などと地域住民と地元の事物について編集イベントを行います。また福岡地域ではWikiGapを予定しており、歴史的に重要な女性の記事を編集してもらうことにより、福岡のジェンダー問題について提起をする機会としたいと思います。

現在予定されているのは 各地域で、GLAM職員に対する講義、図書館でのイベントを含みます。これらのイベントでは熟達したウィキペディアンが今後現地にいなくても自発的にウィキペディアが編集できるようになるよな道筋を作っていきたいと思い、図書館のスタッフなどが編集に興味を持ってもらい、ウィキペディアの意義を理解していただくことが良い流れを生むと思います。

今回私が計画し、各地域から企画されているのは、ウィキメディアコミュニティ向けのものではなく、ほとんどは現在ウィキペディアに興味があるが編集参加していない方々を促すためのものです。熟練したウィキペディアンが参加することにより、時に初心者は委縮してしまう場合があることを何度か経験してきました。私は「誠実なアプローチを心掛けさえすればウィキペディアへの貢献は難しいものではない」ということを広めたいと思っています。

現時点では、このRapid Fundが承認されなければ、企画されているイベントは実現しません。Rapid Fundでお願いしたいのは旅費と宿泊費のみです。ですからRapid Fundが承認されて以降に、資金調達について具体化するという順序になります。 なお、各地のイベントパートナーが結果的に上手にほかの資金調達が可能になれば、このRapid Fundから使用する費用が減っていくこととなります。

私は2013年から現時点までで100以上のイベントでウィキペディアについて話をする機会をいただきました。私にとってこの活動は収入を得るような仕事ではありません。ですから余計に限られた時間でより良い伝え方をし、一人でも多くの人にウィキペディアに対する理解を深めてほしいのです。

福岡地域1：2イベントで参加者50人予定、WikiGap、”after-school care service”利用者 豊橋地域：2イベントで参加者20組40人予定、図書館にて情報リテラシーとウィキペディア講座、エディタソン 沖縄地域：2イベントで参加者50人予定、中学校にてウィキペディアとリテラシー、公共施設にてエディタソン 福岡地域2：2イベントで20人予定、教育機関にてウィキペディアとリテラシー、公共施設にてエディタソン 千葉地域：1イベントで20人予定、学校図書館スタッフ向け編集ワークショップ
これらのイベントはまだ内容が具体的ではなく、助成金による旅費が確定しないと細かい計画が立てられない現状です。
