1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.
  1. 1Lib1Ref — abbreviated for one librarian, one reference is a twice a year campaign which calls on librarians around the world, and anyone who has a passion for free knowledge, to add missing references to articles on Wikipedia. As volunteers of Wikimedia, we plan to collaborate with Libraries and librarians to join global campaign and improve the citations on local language Wikipedia, Kinyarwanda Wikipedia. As the 1Lib1Ref campaign is coming back again within May 15th, to June 5th, 2023. We are trying to participate in the coming campaign in order to ensure that the most articles on Kinyarwanda Wikipedia are being well referenced. This is important because all Wikipedia articles especially Kinyarwanda Wikipedia need proper citations.

Kinyarwanda Wikipedia (rw.wikipedia.org) is a growing language Wikipedia which has nearly above 5000 articles and about 2000 articles among them were created in less than two years (https://stats.wikimedia.org/#/rw.wikipedia.org/contributing/new-pages/normal%7Ctable%7C2-year%7C~total%7Cmonthly), The implementation of this project is also important because involvement of local librarians in building this Wikipedia will result in enhancement of its content which benefits the community of its consumers.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

In collaboration with Rwanda Wikimedia community and Agati Library Rwanda (https://www.segalfamilyfoundation.org/portfolio-items/agati-library-rwanda/) a community library in Rwanda, we want to engage community and train Librarians from different libraries in Rwanda on how to contribute to Wikipedia. Since the existence of librarians is rare and greatly important, this will help and bring the librarians along in the movement. Those Librarians will be useful to the movement this is because of the impact they can bring. This will be effective because we planned the supporting activities including workshops and contest in order to add citation on the more than 300 articles, the list will be prepared by the organizing team. In order to bridge gender gap, we plan to add reference to at least 100 women articles. It will also be effective because every Librarian will be motivated to learn and contribute.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

In assistance of Agati Library Rwanda, we will do mobilization focusing on reaching to local librarians in our country and convince them to join the campaign. After mobilizing we will launch opening event to learn more about #1Lib1Ref campaign and its impacts, and organize training sessions, after we will do a contest for the participants during the campaign. We shall organize a physical session as a launch event and another physical event to close the event where we will share the success of the campaign, recognize and award prizes to 5 top contributors of campaign. There will be online training sessions in other to keep up with the librarians to make sure they keep editing and contributing to campaign.

4. Are your activities part of a Wikimedia movement campaign or event? If so, please select the relevant campaign below. If so, please select all the relevant campaigns from the list below. If "other", please state which.
