1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

I want to change the biases that most of the college students have on Wikipedia from their professors. I want to show them that they can use the Wikipedia's informations as a source, they can change or add new informations on Wikipedia and also after establishing the student club ı want to show and introduce the Üsküdar University Wikipedia Student club to other universities in Turkey and make collaborations and encourage them to open their Wikipedia student club at their universities and ı want to create and make events for the participant and Wikipedist to learn and get experiences about all the Wikipedia systems. For Example, doing PhotoWalk events and uploading the photowalk's pictures to Commons part. Other events that ı will be doing are Training the trainers, camp, conference, etc.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

Firstly, as a being Student club president ı will be making healthy communication with board of directors, university students, other students from different universities. Secondly, ı will use my old experiences and networks about how to create and make the student club efficient and ı will keep working, taking the care of the communication with students by doing monthly meetings and doing the events that as mentioned earlier for instance, while making the training the trainers event, we will learn about Wikipedia more and getting the chance to keeping the touch and sharing ideas, getting motivations from each others. ı know that these thing will be effective ı did not mentioned that ı am psychology student and ı know that importance of having health communication for organization like this.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

Firstly, as i mentioned earlier i want to focus on activities that will make the student learn more about Wikipedia such as monthly training series about how to use Wikipedia as a resource and how to add or change informations on it. The other activity that i will be doing is PhotoWalks about the topic of the month. Going to the place together, taking the pictures and discussing about it together will make the participants feel and have the health communication between them that i mentioned. Even discussing about which pictures we should upload to Commons will make us closer. After the PhotoWalks event will be doing a computations between students, universities, other students clubs. The other activity that i w’l be doing is Camp, this is the activity will include conferences, quiz shows, outdoor activities that will gain knowledge and having fun at the same time. For collaboration with the other universities’ student and for encouraging them to open their Wikipedia student clubs at their university i will organize meeting with them and giving kind of speech about Wikipedia and how to use, find information that they looking for or adding new informations on it, etc.

5. Do you have the team that is needed to implement this proposal?

I have board of directors with 9 other students. Firstly, i will give information about my Vice President, her name is Dilara. She is a sociology student at the university, she will help me with all most everything and she will give speech and lessons about how sociology students can use Wikipedia as their resources, add missing informations that related with sociology. Secondly, the general secretary of the Clup(Nabbegat) , he will be helping us with his knowledge about WikiData. How to add accurate information on Wikipedia without any plagiarism and making collaboration with the engineering students clubs. The full member (palsue)is will help us with the communication with the international students and also she will give lessons to the international students about Wikipedia. The first alternate member (yamurckr) she will be responsible for the outdoor events that include nature, camping. And she will give courses to the psychology students about the Wikipedia and how to use it as a resources and adding the missing informations. The second alternate member she will help the first alternate member on giving the courses to psychology students and she will give us topics options for the PhotoWalks. The accountant of the club will helps us on the budget management and the receipts. And supervisory board will checks the club all the time what we done, how much we spend, etc. the member of the supervisory club are 3 students sognarem, tuba, Müberra. Also, they will help us about social media channels of the club. All the team member that i mentioned are just student and they are doing it as a volunteers.

Target participants will be university students and student clubs. I will engage the participant by the communications channels that we use and for instance, we will be give the participants a certificate that shows they participated the activities. I will follow up with the participant by making mail list, doing surveys, keeping the touch with them by using telegram group.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

If the Participants doesn’t want to share their identities we will give the best effort to keep their identities as a secret with doing a few things that will make clear for the other participants and the stuff. For instance, giving the color code to the participants, if they want to keep their identity secret we will give them a blue bracelet to separate them in the group. I will make sure that every participants feel their welcomed without any discrimination or something else.

I was volunteering at the Wiki Data İstanbul event and after the volunteering there ı realize that ı can let the our university students to know and learn about the thing that ı learned at there and ı got chance to talk with the organizers of the events and share my student club idea with them. They considered my proposal and they letting me know that they will support me and the student club.

15. What do you hope to learn from your work in this fund proposal?

I wan to learn and see the change that i make the on biases that college students has about using Wikipedia as a resource because most of their teachers does not want and let them to use informations that on the Wikipedia. I want to the make them to noticed and learn about the button that say ‘ change’ and i want to know them that all the information adding process on Wikipedia. And i want to develop a student club organization which will be include all the Turkish Wikipedia student clubs. I want to see that my communication strategy were worked out well because i know that if we have a good, health communications there wont be any challenge for us.
