The yearly activities focus on the healthy growth of Turkish language wiki projects and the wiki community in Türkiye. We have a two-fold approach: First is building connections between and strengthening the active contributors of Wikimedia projects in the country; second is growing the wiki community by adding new contributors from different backgrounds. We plan to group our activities in these two lines.

The first line of strategies and activities are those employed to increase the motivation of active wiki contributors in contributing to Wikimedia both as editors and also as participants and organizers of off-wiki events. Historically, the local wiki community highly values anonymity; the ongoing efforts in making off-wiki meetings and collaborating in other ways than on wiki-editing has been received suspiciously from some part of the wiki community. We would like to overcome this challenge; build trust between members and create a positive atmosphere at on-wiki and off-wiki. The activities planned to achieve those goals include organizing regular online bi-weekly meetings as well as in -person meetings in different cities; bringing members at events held for occasions such as Wikipedia Day, organizing Wiki campaigns and contests which both active members and newbies who introduced with wiki projects through off-wiki events join ; motivate and support members in participating regional and global Wikimedia events. In addition to all, the plan includes supporting the community members who are organizing inter-community friendship projects. This was included in the yearly plan as a response to interest observed last year in such projects and as a way of motivating new community members to become organizers. A great novelty of this year will be the new office in Istanbul. The group previously had a small office-space rented because of the legal requirement and used to provide official address for the authorities; this year starts using a real office place in Istanbul which will be used as a venue to bring wiki contributors together.

The second line, aims at growing and diversifying the wiki community in Türkiye; and requires partnering with other organizations. Our plan includes two types of partnerships. First, building and maintaining partnerships with education organizations including universities and secondary schools for raising their students as contributors and informed readers of Wikimedia projects. Our general approach has been first communicating with and motivating with instructors. This year we plan to more actively cooperate with Wikipedia Student Clubs when working at universities and observe how effective it is to see their students involved in Wikimedia activities in motivating the school administrators at developing a positive attitude for Wikimedia projects and the idea of integrating editing Wikimedia projects in the courses. Another novelty planned for this year is organizing a wiki camp for students in cooperation with one of the educational organizations we are partnering with.

Another type of partnerships are those with civil society organizations and local governments; and aim at bringing contributors from different age groups, knowledge in different fields of study, as well as perspectives of different parts of the society, and encouraging organizations to share their knowledge under free licenses. We observe that while Turkish Wikimedia projects grow in certain topics such as popular culture, many other topics are undercovered. The partnerships with other organisations aim at bringing their knowledge to the projects to to overcome this challenge. Activities include co-organising edit-a-thons including Art&Feminism edit-a-thons, giving talks, presentations at academic and non-academic events; as well as organizing basic Wikipedia and Wikidata workshops. We plan to support the partnership building efforts and increase the visibility of the events by having dedicated part-time people to work on partnerships and communications.

We work with two groups of partners. One is Education Partners. This group includes universities and secondary schools together with which we work to organize the Wikipedia Education Program. The number of Education partners is expected to be 10 in each semester. One example is our partnership with Kadir Has University. We have a protocol with this university. Our group gives training on Wikimedia projects in English and Turkish for the required KHAS 110 Civic Responsibility Project Course for all first year students.

Second group of partners are the civil society organizations we organize edit-a-thons with. Some examples are Women's Library and Information Center Foundation together with which we organize Art&Feminism event, Association for Migration Studies together with which we organize edit-a-thon about refugee rights. We will also continue our partnership efforts with Association of Museology and British Institute Ankara in training GLAM professionals about Wikimedia projects, particularly in Wikidata.
