Wiki Camp I edit
- Wiki Camp organization team forming and meetings each week․ The organization team was divided into 4 groups:
- Financial team - Susanna Mkrtchyan who was responsible for finding sponsors for the camp․
- Wiki team - Lilit Tarkhanyan, David Saroyan, Mher Bekaryan, Dato Abuladze, Hayk Harutyunyan. They were responsible for sources, lists and the themes based on which articles would be created in Armenian Wikipedia, workshops during the camp, summarizing daily relults, etc.
- Technical team - Hayk Khloyan, Arsen Harutyunyan, Hrayr Movsisyan, Mher Bekaryan. They were responsible for arrival and departure to the camp (buses, tours), uninterrupted work of the connection, wiki camp various materials design and print, etc.
- Team leaders group - Anna Voskanyan, Mariam Mkrtchyan, Narek Hayriyan, Nune Nadiryan, Nazeli Kamsaryan, Syuzanna Petrosyan, Anna Hovsepyan, Zhenya Petrosyan, who were responsible for the division of the campers into groups, their accommodation in rooms, intellectual, sport and leisure games, various contests organization, campers healthcare, etc.
- Finding sponsors for supporting the attendance of payable campers (including Syrian Armenians)

- Volunteers and division of roles - All the volunteers who wanted to take part in the camp organization gathered together to duscuss further actions.
- Finding an appropriate camp - Organization team reviewed several camps as candidates for the camp. We were looking for such a camp which would have good accommodations and large playgrounds (soccer, volleyball, basketball, badminton, etc)
- Wiki Camp documents forming - The responsible persons first created the application form of the camp, then parents agreement for the participants under 18, afterwards - camp general rules and the schedule. All the documents were available in 2 languages - Armenian and English.
- Press conference - On 7 May a press conference was held in Wikimedia Armenia office devoted to Wiki camp Vanadzor. Speakers - Susanna Mkrtchyan, Lilit Tarkhanyan, Mher Bekaryan and Zabel Vassilian (see press conference announcement and video in Armenian, ArmNews, 07 May)

- Acceptance of applications. Since June we started the admissions of the application for the camp. At first the deadline was set on 20 June but due to the participants' requests that they don't manage to apply we prolonged the deadline till 30 June.
- Wiki Camp page was created in Armenian Wikipedia. Each day had its own workspace where the teams could find the list of articles to be created. (First, Second Wiki Camps)
- Digitizing, OCR, uploading free license sources to Wikicommons and creating their indexes in Wikisource
- Choosing the themes for each day
- Lists of articles to be created and improved in Armenian Wikipedia, dividing them into days. (See those lists on the main pages of Wiki Camp workspaces)
- Visiting "Tsitsernak" camp, agreements with the camp directorate: food, playgrounds, workshop rooms, bedrooms, etc.
- Collaboration with VivaCell-MTS Armenia to provide wireless internet connection: 2 wireless modems each 40 MB/sec speed for 50 users.
- Badges, pens, camp tickets and T-shirts design (see ticket)
- Wiki team selected those participants who fit the requirements of the camp. Mainly the applicants contributions in wiki projects were taken into account. Contacting the participants.
- Technical team found the most appropriate bus company and made an agreement.
- Printing the badges, pens, camp tickets and T-shirts

- Team leaders responsible person actions for this period:
- Divided the campers into groups and rooms.
- Regularly met with volunteers who wanted to be group leaders.
- Chose the group leaders, organized meetings with them each week

- Agreement with National library of Armenia to provide space for meeting with group leaders, participants and parents.

In Wiki Camp edit
There were some events, activities in the camp schedule which were the same each day.

After the camp edit
The organization team summarized the results of the first wiki camp, discussed the advantages and disadvantages and began preparations of the second camp.
Wiki Camp II edit
The preparations of the second wiki camp were mainly the same as in the first camp. The main difference was workshops for non-editors before the camp. As the first camp was a great success and the number of non-editing participants for the second one grew we decided to organize workshops for them and choose those participants who showed wiki editing skills. During the workshops the candidates registered in Armenian Wikipedia, learned the basic editing tools and tried to write at least one article. As the majority of the participants registered in workshops, the number of the newly registered users during the camp is low.

- What went well?
- Wiki camp had a great success. Almost everything went the way we had planned.

- Contributions of the campers. (see Measures of success section)
- Media coverage
- The campers became a great family who still don't miss the opportunity to meet and organize workshops.
- What did not go well?
- 33 Syrian-Armenians participated in Wiki camp. The majority of the articles created by them in Western Armenian had low quality and were deleted by Wikipedia administrators. Their activity is also very low after the camp.
- The majority of the campers didn't have their own laptops to bring to the camp. We tried to provide all of them the necessary quantity of laptops but still there were few participants who were using the laptops concurrently or didn't have laptops for several days.
- A few campers had cameras to take photos during the tours organized within wiki camp. Only several pictures were taken but they had either low quality or were standard pictures and as a result the campers didn't upload them to Wikimedia Commons.
- What would you do differently if you planned a similar project?
- To conduct more workshops for non-editors before the camp to increase their efficiency.
Learning patterns edit
As we organized many workshops for experienced and new editors during the camp the "Workshop size" pattern best matches us and we added there our considerations.
Outcomes and impact edit

- We will suggest the list of articles from various sphere and list of articles about Armenia. Participants will create articles to various language versions of Wikipedia. The results will be reviewed in two months and encourage more active wikipedians. The project will be successful if each of participants create or develop more than 10 articles.
- Did you achieve your project goal? How do you know your goal was achieved? Please answer in 1 - 2 short paragraphs.
- Yes. 5425 articles were created and 246 were improved about Armenia, Armenian history, monuments, geography, science and related themes in Western and Eastern Armenian languages. There were 135 participants in Wiki Camp (59 first, 76 second shifts), 66 of which were payable participants who were paid either by sponsors (Intellectual Renaissance) or their own. After the first Wiki Camp the interest towards Wiki movement and Wiki Camp was significantly increased the result of which is the growth of payable participants from 23 to 43. 18 payable participants keep their activity even after the camp. 36 of created/improved articles were chosen as day articles and were shown on the main page of Armenian Wikipedia.

- Wiki Camp organizing team (Wiki Team) created the list of suggested articles for both first and second camps on the base of free sources (you can see it choosing any day from the first page of wiki camp workspace). These lists were divided into thematic days and groups. Each participant could choose several suggested articles or instead create or improve an article by his own.

- Learning question
- Did your work increase the motivation of contributors, and how do you know?
- Yes. The motivation was increased by competition among participants and groups. Participants got points for their contributions daily. By these points the group and participant charts were created. Participants wanted to get higher position in the charts as well as make their groups the winner of the day.

The number of active wiki editors of hywiki was about 300 in June. As of the start of October this number is increased to 520 which is partially the camp impact. After first camp the number of participants was increased. There were 66 payable participants, who edit wiki for the first time, 18 of them continue editing after the camp. Most of them take part in Saturday workshops organised by WM AM. Students who already knew editing mastered their wiki knowledge and helped others.
Wiki Camp increased reach of wiki projects in the regions of Armenia, particularly in Vanadzor. There were wiki campers from Shirak, Lori, Armavir, Kotayk, Aragatsotn regions as well as from Nagorno-Karabakh. Many of these participants expressed a desire to spread wiki ideas and wiki editing in their home cities. These campers got active in their schools, universities. After the camp wiki editors from Shirak, Lori and Yerevan organized wiki workshops in their schools by their own initiative. Several participants agreed to be volunteers in the wiki clubs, which WMAM is planning to open in the years 2014-2015.
There were also 33 Syrian Armenian participants who speak in Western Armenian. They created and improved articles in Western Armenian, which is the spoken language of Armenian Diaspora and is in the list of endangered languages.
