Activities and lessons learned
editActivities
edit- Producer prize is a half-annual prize which is awarded to the participants who made significant contributions to one or more of the Arabic Wikimedia projects during each round.
Lessons learned
edit- What worked well?
- Running mid-term competitions can help retaining editors
- Offering monetary prizes can motivate users to generate new and high quality content
- Managing the contest required only minimal amount of time of a small team of volunteers.
- What didn't work?
- Sending Money (and goods in case the winner decided they want something bought with the prize money) was a challenge as some countries have access to limited options for transferring the prize.
- What would you do differently if you planned a similar project?
- We completely eliminated Western Union as an option and replaced it with Moneygram as it was somewhat easier and more predictable. We would also eliminate the option to buy goods with the prize as it proved a logistic challenge.
