What are some reasons this group would use Wikipedia? How would they benefit from it, or what would they find useful?

Project idea
editWhat language Wikipedia projects will you promote to new readers?
editEnglish, Hindi, Commons
How will you communicate with new readers? Will you be communicating with them online, in-person, or both?
editWe will communicate using both online (emails, WhatsApp, etc) and in-person modes.
Describe your idea to engage new readers. How might it be implemented? What will you tell people about Wikipedia?
editThis idea will help Wikipedia in the following ways:
- First, it will create new readership
- Second, it will motivate some of these readers to become contributors
- Third, they will acquire skills for uploading media and editing, and,
- Last, there will be an increase in the number of contributions.
Steps for Implementation
Step I - A call for WikiCommons Workshop and Photo walk will be sent out to various colleges of Haryana.
Step II - Existing Editors will be invited to deliver a lecture to the students at Dyal Singh College, Karnal, introducing them to WikiCommons and what they can do with it.
Step III - The students will be taken for A Photo walk in different parts of the city Karnal and encouraged to take photographs of important landmarks, buildings etc.
Step IV - A post Photo walk demonstration of various tools used for WikiCommons will be held to acquaint the students with the technical aspects and help them in uploading the images from the photo walk.
How will you know if this project is successful? What are some outcomes that you can share after the project is completed?
editWe will evaluate the awareness level of the students by asking them to fill a questionnaire after the lecture. We can call the project a success if we are able to get at least
- 40 participants
- 20 new contributors
- 100 image uploads
