Grants:IdeaLab/Draft Your Parents
Audience
editWho are the people you want to introduce Wikipedia to?
editTry to be as specific as possible about this group.
The well connected parents of Generation Z in India.
In what languages do they search for information, online or otherwise?
editEnglish and a whole lot of regional languages.
In what ways does this group communicate with each other?
editThis can include services and apps in social media, mailing lists, physical spaces like conferences or lectures, or at specific institutions like at a library.
Whats-app, Facebook, Phone calls, and family gatherings in the same order.
What are some reasons this group would use Wikipedia? How would they benefit from it, or what would they find useful?
editThink about what they would be interested in reading and learning about; does Wikipedia provide better access to information this group cares about?
I suggest history and heritage of India and their particular regions. Successful and famous people.
Technological advancements(not hardcore) they might find useful or interesting.
Project idea
editWhat language Wikipedia projects will you promote to new readers?
editEnglish and regional languages of India(there are a lot)
How will you communicate with new readers? Will you be communicating with them online, in-person, or both?
editI usually talk to people personally or address them in groups abt how learning new things is fun. But a social media campaign will reach a greater audience. And we should not ignore the emergence of whats-app as the ombudsman of fake news, useless content and propaganda.
Describe your idea to engage new readers. How might it be implemented? What will you tell people about Wikipedia?
editThink about the steps that might involved to make this idea happen, and what you might teach people about your experience or others' experiences using Wikipedia.
The importance of knowledge in character formation and engaging conversation and the ease of access through Wiki. But I think dividing the target audience into smaller manageable and with more in common for personalized approach. And promotion of the app.
How will you know if this project is successful? What are some outcomes that you can share after the project is completed?
editIf you’re not certain about how to respond to this question when starting your idea, you do not need to answer it right now. Campaign participants and Wikimedia Foundation staff can help you consider some options.
Increased page views and references in social media by region would be a gud indicator for selecting the type of content for the audience. I also recommend a reward based challenges section in the android app. Also giving the adults a physical space to discuss all that they have learned periodically can be helpful.
Do you think you can implement this idea? What support do you need?
editDo you need people with specific skills or resources to complete this idea? Are there any financial needs for this project? Do you need advising from Wikimedia Foundation staff?
I think I can implement this Idea with technical and financial help. But I already have a busy student life(Just ask some Indians about entrance coaching and u will find out what I mean) so I rather not. But always happy to help in less time consuming ways and brainstorming.

editAbout the idea creator
editI am a 17-year old who watches a lot movies and t.v series. I like reading Wikipedia pages of new things I get exposed to, and related pages. My greatest achievement is being a KVPY scholar and want to be a technocrat in the future.
