Grants:IdeaLab/Anyone can edit, 2 step verification users can publish
- Strongly oppose 1. This is going to create an insurmountable backlog of pending edits, since the number of non-confirmed editors vastly outnumbers the number of confirmed editors. 2. This would make Wikimedia the holder of private information (phone numbers), which make it a more attractive target for attacks as well as potentially introducing legal problems/hassle with the storage of such data. 3. Not everybody wants to hand over their phone numbers to Wikipedia. 4. It's way too cumbersome (all users that don't want to be treated like irresponsible children that must be supervised need to verify their phone numbers) for likely very marginal returns. 5. In any case, I doubt the current system is actually inadequate, so this seems like a solution looking for a problem to me. --Doveofsymplegades (talk) 10:45, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
