Ocaasi edit

Hi! I'm Ocassi, an English Wikipedia editor and administrator. I have been involved with Wikimedia projects seriously since about 2008, and I have about 25,000 edits, mostly to English Wikipedia . With a background in political theory, I have a history of article creation and mediation involving current events, and also medicine. A major focus of mine has been working with new editors, creating help guides, helping out at OTRS, and creating/overseeing partnerships with organizations. I was an active channel operator in Wikipedia-en-help (IRC) for many months, worked extensively at Articles for Creation, and have been a host at the Teahouse. As part of that work I expanded and rewrote The simplified ruleset into the Plain and Simple guide, and developed The plain and simple conflict of interest guide.

In 2012 I initiated two partnerships, with HighBeam Research and Questia Online Library, in which they donated each 1,000 free, full-access, 1-year accounts. I also took over management of the Credo Reference Library, which began in 2011 and was expanded to 500 total accounts the next year. The last piece of the library puzzle to come together was a 100 account donation from JSTOR, which was spearheaded by Steven Walling at the Wikimedia Foundation in close connection with the Featured Article Reviewers on English Wikipedia. As part of my efforts to expand this partnership, I created the umbrella of The Wikipedia Library, centralizing the housing and distributions of these types of donations and planning to expand their efficiency, tracking, scale, and scope.

I'm looking forward to getting editors access to the best resources in the world, and I need your help to do it--to recognize which sources are the highest priority and to identify the best contacts we have in the research, academic, library, and publishing communities. It should be exciting! Ocaasi (talk) 18:14, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
