July 2014
editJuly came and went and what seems like nothing was accomplished. This was entirely my own doing. Although I doubt other grantees have my faults, I'll share. My project has several parts but each is fairly simple and was planned out. I began putting together the presentation and started adding in the other parts making things muddled and trying to cover way too much in the presentation. I made such a mess that I re-started from scratch. Honestly I think I was too enthusiastic and kept adding and adding.
Then I was unable to convince the US Chamber of Commerce to help coordinate calls. I really thought this was such an easy thing that I would get quick agreement. I knew there were several reasons it may not work but I didn't believe them. For some reason not getting agreement really upset me and I continued to be disappointed in myself. I began contacting the State Chambers which actually may be better. So I'll keep pushing forward and make August a success.--Tbennert (talk) 02:51, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
August 2014
editAugust was unsuccessful as well. I have not hooked any state chambers.I need to dedicate a good amount of phone time to work on gaining enthusiasm from them. I decided to hold on that and work on the materials. Even if the chamber part is not successful hopefully the materials will be useful for other purposes. I also had frustration with the computer screen recording software. As a solution I started just using print screens and graphics. This was pretty slow and looked choppy. Should be able to find a way to record so I'll keep trying. --Tbennert (talk) 20:22, 5 September 2014 (UTC)
September 2014
editThe powerpoint is essentially done. Will convert to video and submit for community review in October. The welcome page has also been rewritten. For October I will create the tutorials. I have a handle on the various computer issues and am optimistic that there will be no problems going forward.

Rationale
editHave had ongoing medical issues that impact my ability to complete the objectives. Prefer not to go into detail in a public forum but email, phone call, facetime, etc would be fine. Not anything life threatening or tragic, just crappy and frustrating.
Even though my initial plan needed to be modified, the outcome should still prove beneficial to Wikivoyage. While I intend to continue promoting Wikivoyage after the grant ends, I would like to have some results included in the final report.
