Monthly updates edit

Please prepare a brief project update each month, in a format of your choice, to share progress and learnings with the community along the way. Submit the link below as you complete each update.

July edit

July was the month of Wikimania with preparations for our talk

Wikimania was intense but really worthwhile and resulted in a lot of work and discussion. We've got a better idea of what programming roles we need and who we need as well as how to achieve it.

Many enthusiastic volunteers have contacted us and we're working on getting in touch with everyone from Wikimania.

August edit

August focuses on bringing all the enthusiasm and ideas from Wikimania together. This means detailing programming tasks, writing reports, and a whole lot of communication with the teams.

September edit

September included updates on the tasks, expansion of some goals as well as a start on much of the ground-work following Wikimania. I also attended the Gothenburg Bookfair (94 715 visitors) together with Wikimedia Sweden to promote the translation project, speaking to a number of Wikipedians as well as writers such as Andrew Keen.

November edit

The Washington NIOSH/NIH meetup was very successful, with us discussing ways to expand the project as well as potential future collaborations. Much of the ideas were purely preliminary, but I hope we will be able to build upon this. The time-frames for these institutions are slightly longer than what we as Wikipedians are used to, with followup meetings scheduled in January 2016 and onward.

December edit

Is your final report due but you need more time?

Extension request edit

New end date edit

  • May 2015

Rationale edit

A number of developments have made the project run behind schedule. While translations and integrations have continued to run more or less smoothly, a number of the IEGs other goals have been reevaluated or halted. Our November 2015 NIOSH/NIH meetup in Washington D.C. went very well, but seeing as I had to take time off to be there I had to put in more work in school during the following weeks. The current course in internal medicine also proved far more time-consuming than I had anticipated, with many clinical rotations and to do the project justice I would like to extend the time-frame until May. Finishing up may take less time depending on how fast I can get back to finishing the reports/goals, but I'd rather finish earlier than to extend again.

Hi Carl,
I am approving your extension request. Please update the timeline at the top of this page to reflect your current thinking about your project milestones and anticipated completion date.
Thank you!

Extension request edit

New end date edit

August 1 2017

Rationale edit

I overestimated the time I had available to finish the report. I have now applied for a generous extension in order to make sure I finish it in time. CFCF 💌 📧 12:10, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
