Inherently notable

edit

Abstract/description

edit

Inherently notable, dealing with what constitutes notability in material about Australian topics, and the processes of establishing the placement in the wikipedia context. Also issues of verifiability, and subsequent understandings of claims of authority, and where the quality of the subject/topic is contestable. There is particular emphasis on the area of knowledge that is not necessarily extracted from internet/web source, as well as issues relating to diversity in the larger range of Autsralian topics.

What I am hoping to achieve

edit
  • Examination of the processes of contestation as to notability and verifiability in Australian content
  • As either a talk or workshop, there is opportunity to see the processes of clarifications required to ascertain sufficient proof of notability, and some examples of where verifiability can be problematic.

Relationship to Wiki skills or to the theme

edit
  • To gain confidence in the understanding the components of the challenges and contestation of notability, and the capacity to be able to back up on verifiability. To see the processes required to go through the chain of different stages of contestation.
