Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia.
Adelaide Airport
Adelaide Airport is located 6 kilometres west of the city, and the Ibis Hotel on Grenfell Street where WikiCon will be held. There is only one Airport terminal which is used for both international and domestic flights. On the Adelaide Airport website there are maps of the terminal and surrounds, including where to catch a taxi, bus or Uber.
Adelaide Airport bus to the city
There is an Adelaide Metro public transport bus service available at the front of Adelaide Airport. To travel into the city use the J1 or J2 buses. There are a range of ways to pay including:
- 'Tap and pay' using your bank card on board the bus
- Buy and recharge an Adelaide metroCARD at the vending machine at the bus shelter
- the Adelaide Metro Buy & Go app uses QR code tickets.
All details are available on the Adelaide Metro website here.
Note: there is no Skybus service in Adelaide.
Public transport within Adelaide city
Travel within the city centre is free on the City Connector bus and also the tram service. You do not need a Metro card to travel within the city.
If you plan to travel further than the city centre (for eg, to Glenelg on the tram,or to the Airport) you will need to purchase the appropriate metroCard ticket using one of the three methods listed above. Once you validate your ticket your fare lasts for two hours of travel on any form of public transport.
Additionally if you have a Seniors Card you can travel for free on all Adelaide Metro buses, trains and trams all day, every day.
