Response
edit*Will you still come if you receive a partial scholarship or no scholarship at all?
Yes
*What are you able to contribute?
I am able to contribute to multiple discussions relating to open knowledge, open access and inclusion and accessibility.
Specifically, I can contribute an update and awareness raising about the Wikimedia Australia supported project ‘Standardised data on initiatives’ (STARDIT).
In addition I am the Strategy Liaison for the WikiJournal User Group and can provide insight and updates relating to that project.
As Director of the charity Science for All I can also provide insight into the projects we are working on, including involving people from diverse background in shaping the future of human knowledge.
*What outcomes are you looking for?
To increase my understanding of the Wikimedia Australia community and how I can support the work. I also hope to strengthen my connections with our precious community.
I also hope to raise awareness of the projects above that I volunteer on, in the hope of others wanting to get involved and support.
*What sessions have you proposed?'
Introducing Standardised Data on Initiatives (STARDIT) and the partnership with Wikimedia Australia
*How will your contributions improve Australian First Nations contributions, and content?
I am Director of the charity Science for All, and we are working with a number of organisations which work to involve Aboriginal people in research. We will be working in partnership to co-design inclusive learning and development opportunities to improve people’s skills and knowledge about using STARDIT to plan, report and evaluate involvement in health research. *How will your contributions improve Australian content?'
By improving awareness of (and thus hopefully the number of people involved) in both STARDIT and the WikiJournals projects, more people will be able to contribute to these projects.
Specifically, this should help empower people to share knowledge and findings from projects either in peer-reviewed articles, or in STARDIT reports - both of which can supplement and improve the data quality of Wikipedia articles.
*Are you from an under represented group?
I am neurodiverse, but I am not sure if this is a grouping which is recognised or statistically under-represented
*Are you from regional or rural Australia?
No but I work with and represent people from rural and remote communities *Are you a new editor?'
I have been editing Wikipedia for over 10 years, but am relatively new to editing Wikidata (and still learning!)
