This month marks the first anniversary of CBSUA Wiki Education, a joint program of the International Relations Office of CBSUA-Calabanga, the PhilWiki Community User Group, and the Bikol Wikipedia Community. Wikimedia MKD puts significant efforts for the further development of its educational program, paying particular attention to the inclusion of young people in the process of editing Wikipedia in the Macedonian language. Senior Wikitown is an important event for all the senior courses graduates since 2017. This year participants visited ancient small town of Bečov nad Teplou in Western Bohemia. Group of 8 participants and 4 lecturers enjoyed visit to Becov Castle, including Reliquary of St. Maurus, second most valuable national treasure from 13th century. Based in renovated Becov Botanical Garden (cs), thanks to the director Jiri Sindelar, we felt warm hospitality and openness. Although half of the country suffered from flash floods during the events weekend, we enjoyed our stay in Becov as much as possible. Read more…

In 2024, Open Knowledge South Sudan launched a digital literacy initiative at Eloi Secondary School in Juba, aimed at empowering 50 students and 10 teachers with knowledge of Wikimedia projects and essential ICT skills. The program introduced participants to platforms like Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata, helping them contribute to global knowledge while improving their computer and internet navigation skills. Despite challenges related to infrastructure, such as limited power supply and a lack of computers, the program has made significant strides in promoting digital literacy in South Sudan. Read more…
