Summary: In the event of celebrating Wikidata Twelfth Birthday This special program is designed to introduce Wikidata to school students. During this event, students can learn how to explore and edit Wikidata, contribute valuable information, and understand how data is used in the real world.

In an initiative to foster digital literacy and global collaboration, a week-long Wikidata Training Program was held for 9th Standard students (aged 14) from Government Higher Secondary School Nangur in Tamilnadu. The sessions took place daily for one hour after school, with five enthusiastic students participating actively. This was the first initiative in Schools in Tamilnadu, India.

Students learned about the purpose, importance, and functionality of Wikidata as a structured open-data platform. With the mentor's help, students navigated the Wikidata interface and practiced editing and creating school IDs. Each student focused on contributing data related to schools in specific blocks, such as Sirkali and Mayiladuthurai.

The students expressed great excitement about their contributions being visible worldwide and showed enthusiasm for continuing their exploration of Wikidata. Teachers praised the program for enhancing student's digital literacy and research skills, highlighting its potential to prepare students for future digital challenges.

The training program proved to be a resounding success, showcasing the capability of school students to contribute to global knowledge repositories. Encouraged by this positive outcome, plans are in motion to expand the program and involve more students in similar Wikidata projects in the future.
