Community Wishlist Survey 2022/Translation/Add field about the number of hits for an article when suggesting a translation

Add field about the number of hits for an article when suggesting a translation

  • Problem: The time people have to translate is limited, therefore it might be feasible to dispaly the number of "hits" an article gets in the source language. Articles that get many hits may be more feasiblefor translation
  • Proposed solution: When displaying proposals/suggestions for translations, also display the number of pageviews, and perhaps make the list sortable by this field. The idea is that articles that get many hits in the source language, might also get many hits in the target language.
  • Who would benefit: Translators with limited time

  • I think it's like popular page for translation. Some people like to translate some of the particular subject. Thingofme (talk) 02:38, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
  • I think page view statistics are only available for existing pages? Internal page links might be the better solution, as used in the missingtopics (?) tool. ~~~~

  •   Support The principle of "low hanging fruit" or better "Pareto Principle" makes sense here: put limited time/energy into high volume pages. In some cases, though, low-use but high-value subjects still must be translated as priority. Gpwitteveen (talk) 21:34, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
