It's easier to see the benefits of the idea than to see it's costs. There would have to be a system that stores the edit history of the edit summaries and that adds complexity. ChristianKl (talk) 16:50, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I note this was also proposed last year and the year before, and see also phab:T15937#2606108. This is probably never going to happen, as it would require adding history to the edit summaries so others can see who changed it, when, and how, and adding these edits to Special:RecentChanges so patrollers can watch for malicious edits to edit summaries. And people might also want edit summaries for their edit summary edits, and the ability to edit those summaries in turn, ad infinitum. Anomie (talk) 16:15, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
