Fixes ready to be applied edit

Visited links have the same color as unvisited ones edit

You can't see if you already visited a page because both visited and unvisited links are drawn in the same color.

I forgot that links to stub articles are now in the same color as visited links. And visited external links shouldn't get pink. Not sure about new colors yet, discussion is going on on the German mailinglist. --Head 16:27, 20 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Similar fixes are required for the navigation bar.

The problem is that you can't divide the stubs from the visited links now. Maybe stubs should be marked with a dark grey? --Urbanus 23:18, 20 Oct 2003 (UTC)

I suppose this the same problem I have, as I can't well make the difference between visited links and empty links. Why not use pink (magenta) links or brown links (perhaps nicer with the background) for the visited one ? Anthere

The visited/unvisited links being the same color was more a feature than a bug, to me... for reference, for the rest of the web, I have my browser history set to 999 days so that visited links show as such. With the 'pedia... the red links for missing articles is far more important and it's difficult even for me to tell the two apart now, and I've got absurdly good vision and color-differentiation. I'd appreciate a different color or an option to change it back. To summarize: red visited links == BAD. -- Jake 11:36, 21 Oct 2003 (UTC)

With all visited links in the same colour its difficult to differentiate between internal and external links. Furthermore I think the many colours (background colours, blue, red, violet (stub), violet (visited), external) more confusing for new users than helpful. I would appreciate it very much, if a "show visited links" option could be integrated in the preferences with default setting off or the stylesheet be reverted to the old version without a:visited. -- Sansculotte 14:39, 21 Oct 2003 (UTC)

Proposal for new color scheme edit

This is my proposal to make things simpler. But it would be necessary to change the Standard skin as well, otherwise it would be confusing if you switch between skins. --Head 22:47, 15 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Only if something is entered on the new page, which is often not the case. Just for consistency I think we should leave it in, so we can state a general rule which should easily be understandable by nearly anyone - Visited links are always a darker shade than unvisited links, and internal are blue, external are green, missing are red, and stubs are purple. - Nanobug 16:43, 4 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Comment by MarkM: I think darker should be for UNvisited links. Because to me it is what I have NOT yet seen that is more important to bring to my attention. What I have already seen can fade into the background - get paler, stand out less. What I have yet to see is what should glare out at me nice and bright or dark or obvious so I can easily notice it. -MarkM-
