  • @AndreFrank-WMIL and מקף: Please note that campaigns have to requested at least 10 days in advance (see CNR) because of possible issues that can show up. Unfortunately, that's here the case:
    • What is this campaign about? As CentralNotice administrators, we had to give a category to the campaign (Article writing, Photography, Event, Fundraising, etc.). Unfortunately, my Hebrew is a bit odd and without any information beyond Wikimedia Israel campaign "רוצים שהעולם ילמד שהוא עגול? עגלו לטובת הוויקיפדיה העברית!" I cannot assign a useful category.
    • As far as I can conclude from the automated translation of the landing page, you are (also) asking for donations. As per CentralNotice guidelines, any kind of fundraising campaigns have to be forwarded to the Wikimedia Foundation staff 90 days in advance so that agreements can be signed, etc.
    • Campaigns that intend to target wide audiences (i.e., anonymous users in particular) should be announced on the local village pump and usually can only be enabled when there is no objection from the local community as well.
    • Lastly, we cannot make good use of images for CentralNotice banners. Although I could embed it into a banner and make the general background black, it will be a major problem for all devices beyond desktop PCs (mobile views often cover more than 50 % of readers so that you likely don't want me to disable that). Usually, either the banner design is provided in HTML/CSS/JavaScript by the requester or we adapt the standard banner where we can use one logo on the left (maybe another one on the right) and a short text with only a few other changes at max. • Hi, thanks for the detailed explanation. This is the first time I make such a request and what you wrote helps me a lot.
    * So, for me, probably just to postpone the start and end date respectively, I guess the main thing is that it will take about a month in total.
  • This is a WMIL fundraising campaign, suggests the readers who are interested in doing so, to round the purchases amounts on credit to the nearest new shekel round whole number, and to donate the Israeli agoras (= the little rounded amount). If you would like to know more about this donation concept (quite familiar in Israel), here is a more detailed explanation: w:he:עיגול לטובה (machine translation to english)
  • Ok. @Andre, I hope you can take care of this aspect. Perhaps the WMF already knows the WMIL campaign from previous years and will confirm it quickly.
  • Ok, announced on w:he:WP:מזנון#M:CentralNotice/Request/Wikimedia Israel, Igul LeTova 2024
  • Is it possible to implement this banner using two separate almost identical banners, the only difference being that one is optimized for desktop and the other for mobile devices?
Thank you! · מקף Hyphen · 12:54, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for the proposed steps. As soon as I have all information, I can set up the campaign without the further delay of 10 days. I can also add two banner variants, one for desktop, the other for mobile. Please keep in mind that only HTML/CSS/JavaScript can be used, no wiki markup (the image could be used but has flaws, as said). I'm pinging JBrungs (WMF) so that she is notified about the campaign and can add her OK when everything is cut and dried from the fundraising end. Thank you @DerHexer.
@AndreFrank-WMIL and מקף: I know WMIL has run the Round Up campaign before. Have you been in touch with the WMF office this year? I was in touch with @OphirT - WMIL about the campaign last year. We need to renew agreements before you can run the campaign. If this has already happened, great, but can you drop me an email at jbrungs at wikimedia dot org and let me know the details so I can double check this from my side? Thank you! JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 06:40, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Letting everyone know that the agreement is now signed and the banners are good to go from my side. @AndreFrank-WMIL and @DerHexer. JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 05:27, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    We'll need new dates then. ;) Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 13:06, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@AndreFrank-WMIL and מקף: Will you continue this campaign or can it be marked as closed? Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 14:20, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think the banner is still relevant, will be checked. · מקף Hyphen · 15:10, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello everyone! I really appreciate your collaboration and support! Our plan is to kick off the campaign in May, however, the Wikimedia Israel board has requested a revision of the design before the launch. They also suggested starting with two slightly different versions to test their effectiveness. Based on the analysis of which version performs better, we will continue with the most successful one for the rest of the campaign.
