Report from the General Assembly of Wikimedia Poland

On 24th and 25th of June 2023, the General Assembly (GA) of Wikimedia Poland took place in Olsztyn, a picturesque Polish town located on the northeast of Poland.

Traditionally, Wikimedia Poland organises GA meetings in combination with conferences thus there was also an opportunity for members, volunteers and staff to attend various lectures and meetings and to meet new people and network. The GA and the conference were attended by more than sixty people.

GA took place on the first day of the conference in the morning and the time in the afternoon was reserved for international guests and topics, among which also the topic of CEE Hub and its development. CEE Hub Coordinator Barbara Klen presented about the CEE Hub, its purpose and ongoing activities. She explained what Hub is for and for which services individuals and CEE communities can turn to the Hub. As Wikimedia Poland is CEE Hub's fiscal sponsor, most questions after the lecture were focusing on this responsibilities and roles of WM Poland in its role of Hub’s first fiscal sponsor.

Apart from the lecture about the CEE Hub, two other international lectures were about Czech experience regarding relationships in the community, given by Pavel Bednarik, and the lecture about experience and challenges of working during the war which Ukrainian Wikimedians are facing already more than a year. This lecture was given by Daryna Vozniuk.

On the last day of the conference, several workshops and lectures took place, among which also a workshop about usage of multimedia related to Wiki projects, workshop about photo accreditations and a workshop about mass photo processing. There was also a lecture about the presence of women composers of the 16th–19th centuries in the Wikipedia narrative and a lecture about Wikimedia Europe and its work.
