Africa Wiki Challenge 2022/Participate
Why is it important to participate in this campaign?
Africa is the second largest continent on Earth, however content about the continent is scarce as compared to other continents. This campaign is aimed at contributing more content to improve the number of articles about Africa on Wikipedia. In 2016, the Guardian published that, about only 2.6% of the content on English Wikipedia was about Africa. Since then, efforts have been made to improve the statistics and change the narrative on the internet. As organizers, we acknowledge the work being done by editors and Wikipedians across the world. Africa deserves to be covered substantially. Hence changing the narrative and bridging the content gap that exists about the continent on the web. The Africa Wiki Challenge (AWC) is aimed at getting contributions on Africa from Africans in Africa and in the diaspora. Be part of the participants and your works will speak for Africa!
