Twice per year, #1Lib1Ref — abbreviated for one librarian, one reference — calls on librarians around the world, and anyone who has a passion for free knowledge, to add missing references to articles on Wikipedia. #1Lib1RefCEE aims to join CEE forces of editors and librarians to make Wikipedia more reliable.

Context and Contest

edit

There will be a specially coordinated set of activities for the CEE region. All participating communities will be added to the CEE Language Competition to encourage citation improvements and to enhance the quality of content on the various CEE language Wikipedias. The competition will have both a regional and national layer. To participate, you need to register on the Dashboard

Hashtags

edit

One of the most important things about participating in the #1Lib1Ref campaign is to add the hashtag (#1Lib1ref) in the edit summary of the article. To ensure we separately track participation from the CEE region we will be using in addition to the standard #1Lib1ref tag, the #1Lib1RefCEE tag. It is extremely important to use both tags, so that we can track the results and so that each reference entered is recorded in the Wikimedia hashtags tool.

Prizes

edit

This competition will have both a regional and national layer. On the national level, all top 10 contributions from each country or community will receive a certificate from the Wikimedia Foundation. On the regional level, the top contributor of the overall contest and the top contributor of the winning language in the contest will receive a special certificate from Wikimedia Foundation and the ability to choose an award up to $50 from the Wikipedia Store.
