Request for Reconsideration: Funding for the Exploring Local Government Areas in Nigeria project

Dear YPam(WMF)

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to respectfully request a reconsideration of the funding decision regarding my application Exploring Local Government Areas in Nigeria project. While I understand the consideration mentioned , I would like to present some additional information and reasons why approving funding for this project would be highly beneficial.

First and foremost, I want to highlight that I am an active member of the Wikimedia Nigeria User Group. I am fully aware of the ongoing activities within the community and have taken significant steps to avoid any potential project overlaps or duplication. I have collaborated closely with the User Group to ensure that my project proposal complements and adds value to the existing initiatives.In fact, I submitted my proposal in April to ensure that I avoided potential overlap with existing projects that targets on improving any content on wikivoyage.

Upon careful review, it has become evident that there is currently no ongoing project specifically targeting the development and expansion of content on Wikivoyage for local government areas in Nigeria. This project aims to address this significant gap by providing comprehensive and up-to-date information about these regions, promoting tourism, and encouraging local community engagement.

Additionally, I would like to highlight the extensive impact that this project can have on the Wikimedia ecosystem. By exploring and documenting local government areas across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria, we will be able to improve existing articles and create new ones on the Wikivoyage . This will significantly enhance the coverage and depth of information available to users interested in exploring Nigeria's localities and this areas, which contains little to no information online.

Furthermore, the participation and enthusiasm expressed by the participants during the microgrant phase of the project reaffirms its potential impact.The project received enthusiastic participation from Wikimedia User Group members and stakeholders. They recognized the potential impact it could have on promoting knowledge about local government areas in Nigeria on Wikivoyage. Their support further validates the importance and relevance of this project.They are eager to contribute their knowledge and expertise towards creating valuable resources for Wikivoyage users

Given these points, I kindly request that you reconsider your decision and provide funding for the Exploring Local Government Areas in Nigeria project. By doing so, we can bridge the existing gap and make a meaningful contribution to the Wikimedia movement in Nigeria. The project has the potential to empower local communities, enhance tourism, and foster greater understanding of our diverse nation on Wikivoyage.

Hello @Sylvesterchukwu04 The decision regarding your grant application is final and will not be re-considered currently. The recommendation still remains that you reach out to the Wikimedia Nigeria User Group for continued support that you might need on this project.
