1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Nigeria operates a federal system of Government with 774 local Government areas.Local government areas are the smallest administrative units in a country, and they often have unique cultural, historical, and natural attractions that are not well known to the wider public. Local Government has long been seen as a path to, and generator of, national integration and development.

Moreover, the lack of information and proper documentation about local government areas in Nigeria on Wikivoyage creates a significant content gap. While there is a wealth of information about popular tourist destinations, many local government areas are relatively unknown and have little to no information available online.

This project is an extension of the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria community microgrant Wikivoyage for Lagos State Local Government Offices and Secretariat's of which I was the project lead, the project was targeted at bridging the gap about Lagos state local government areas, offices and Secretariat's locations on wikivoyage of which the desired goals and impacts of the project were successfully met.This is the report for the project https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Wikimedia_UG_Nigeria_Grants/Wikimedia_User_Group_Nigeria_Community_Support_Fund/Wikivoyage_for_Lagos_State_Local_Government_Offices_and_Secretariat%27s/Report

Through this project, we aim to engage and train new and existing Wikimedian editors on how to effectively make high quality wikivoyage edits by editing, improving and creating new articles about Nigeria's local government areas. Through this initiative, we will help to bridge the content gap about Nigeria's local government areas on wikivoyage, and significantly contribute to the growth of open knowledge.Doing so will help make it easier for those interested in exploring these areas to find the travel guides they need for a truly memorable experiences.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

1. Creating Awareness About the Event: To inform both new and existing Wikimedian editors,we will be sharing and distributing E posters and fliers across the designated platform of our target participants as this will offer a comprehensive way to reach our target audience,ensuring that the event awareness is heard by variety of people with maximum reach.Utilizing this designated platform and messaging channels will enable us create a WhatsApp group for those who generate interest about the event in an efficient,cost effective manner that will reach a wide audience.Additionally by applying an integrated approach we will create a consistent message to ensure maximum impact.

2.Pre Physical Training Activity: Before the Main day I and my team members will be actively involved in mapping out the plan of the physical training, having a clear outline of the areas to cover.Furthermore,we will be creating,sharing materials and resources to the participants to ensure they have the information needed to best prepare for the physical event.The plan will clearly outline the areas to cover, providing an effective framework for success.
2. Organizing a Physical Training/Event and Edit a thon : The physical training will take place in an organized and peaceful atmosphere where participants will have the opportunity to become experienced Wikimedian editors, understanding the basic editing skills and principles of wikivoyage.Furthermore equipping them with the very unique art and act of contributing to Wikivoyage. Awarding participants with a personalized certificate of excellence that includes the participant's name, the name of the project etc, towards the end of the event as an excellent way to recognize their achievements and this will serve as a valuable and cherished token of recognition for the participant's hard work and achievement's .

All of these strategies will organize and structure a physical training and edit a Thon , allowing for a successful and productive event

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

1. Awareness : Before the event begins We will be actively involved in sharing E flyers to the designated social media platform of the Target audience .An online registration form will be passed across to enable easy registration for the participants.Mail remainders will be sent to the registered participants to keep them posted and updated before the event day.

2. Physical Training/Event and Edit a thon:This day will be broken down into three sessions.During the first session I and my team members will be actively involved in helping and guiding new editors on how to create Wikipedian account.During the Main Session,there will be an interactive session and presentation in order to inform and educate participants about the event, explaining the events importance, purpose and goal,and that participation is important and vital.Furthermore, participants will be trained by experience volunteer facilitators with the use of teaching aids which includes projector and slides also with wikivoyage training resources on how to make basic edits on wikivoyage, searching and retrieval of information on wikivoyage, improving and creating articles on wikivoyage to bridge the gap about Nigeria local government areas on wikivoyage.The day will be rounded off with an edit a thon session during which I and my team will provide guidance to these participants during the edit a thon session to help participants learn, solidify their knowledge and complete the project successfully. Through this activity participants will be monitored and assessed in order to provide guidance to enable them become better editors and gain the necessary skills and knowledge.
4.Contest:The event will end with an online contest .This is a great way to engage participants and award prizes to the top 3 contributors as incentives to encourage wider engagement in other and future wiki projects .We will take utmost care that the contest is free and fair that the winners are chosen by criteria established by us .

Yes,Our team have the qualifications and experience needed to implement this this project successfully.Our teams are highly skilled and experienced on wikivoyage and have the necessary knowledge , insight and resources to ensure successful completion of this project

User: Sylvesterchukwu04 (Project Lead): I am an experienced Wikimedian editor and trainer,with an extensive capacity and experience to lead this project.I was the project Lead for the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria microgrant Wikivoyage for Lagos State Local Government Offices and Secretariat's which was a tremendous success.I have won many online Wikipedia campaigns and edit a thon's which includes Nigerian cuisine whose one of it's project focus was on wikivoyage, Wikidata for Nigerian Museum amongst others.

User: Kingaustin07 (Co- facilitator):He is an experienced editor and trainer on wikipedia.He co facilitated and trained editors during wikivoyage for Lagos State Local Government Offices and Secretariat's. He has participated and won series of Wikimedian contest which includes Nigerian Expenditure whose project focus was on wikivoyage, Nigerian cuisine amongst others.He will be providing his volunteer support to facilitate this event.

User: Favourdare123(Communications and Logistics): He is an experienced Wikimedian editor and a trainer.He was the project lead for Wikivibrance 2022, Wikimedia Hackathon in Kwara.He has won major Wikipedia edit a thon which includes Nigerian Expenditure etc.He has over a thousand edits on Wikivoyage.He will be providing his volunteer support under technical capacity to co facilitate this event and also in charge of Logistics and Communications.

User:B.Korlah(Co-facilator):He is an experienced Wikimedian editor and a vast trainer.He was the project lead for Art+ feminism Benin,one of the facilitators of Nigerian cuisine,Nigeria Transportation and Recreation Expedition etc.He has an impressive edit count on wikivoyage and he is equally an Autopatrolled editor on wikivoyage .He will be providing his support and capacity to co facilitate this project. Additionally he has trained editors in other wikivoyage projects.

Together, our team brings diverse experiences and unique skills that are essential to the successful completion of this project. We're confident that with our collaborative efforts, we can create an informative and comprehensive travel guide about the local government areas in Nigeria on Wikivoyage.

The project aims at bridging the the knowledge gap by providing reliable information which includes demographics, geography and other essential information about each local government areas in Nigeria.By making this information available and accessible to anyone there by promoting knowledge equity aligned with the Wikimedian movement strategies.

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities?

The target participants are individuals, youths, students, and existing Nigerian Wikimedians editors. Prior to the event, we will be sharing and distributing e-flyers to the designated platform of the target participants and sending out an online registration form to recruit new editors and participants for the event.

During the event, my team and I will be actively engaged in training and equipping participants in the art and act of contributing to Wikivoyage related to Local Government Areas in Nigeria. We will be closely monitoring and guiding the editing activities of the new editors to ensure that the standards of editing Wikivoyage are upheld. All editing activities will be done in a professional manner with a commitment to the highest quality of results.Additionally, we will provide resources for participants to refer to after the event. By filling this gap, we can help to promote greater diversity in travel and encourage people to explore off-the-beaten-path destinations.

After the event, we will be working to ensure the sustainability of the participants by having them join as community members of Wikimedia User Group Nigeria as this will keep posted and foster participation in future and upcoming wiki events.Additionally, participants will be added to a WhatsApp group for follow up questions, feedback, and Ongoing support.This group provides a direct line of communication between participants and the team running the event.We will also conduct a post-event survey to gather feedback on the event and identify areas for improvement
