It's been a while since our last update. But really, things have mostly been steady and there hasn't been much to report. We do want to give an update on our finances, since you'll notice some changes on our Open Collective page.

In February, Open Collective Foundation (OCF) unexpectedly announced it was shutting down, and gave us until the end of September to find a different fiscal host to move to. We spent a while looking around before settling on Open Collective Europe (OCE). This allows us to keep using the Open Collective system, but the funds will now be stored with a non-profit based in Belgium. Donations should still be tax-deductible in the US and some European countries.

Our account with OCF needs to be emptied before we can switch fiscal hosts, so you'll notice that the collective is now empty with the money transferred to Myriad USA. Once that goes through, we'll leave OCF, then join OCE, and have the funds transferred back. After that, we'll be asking former monthly donors to re-enable their donations (there is no obligation to donate, just if you're able!). Our costs have gone up slightly (now $70 USD/month) in the meantime because our database has kept growing.

As always, please let us know if there's any questions we can answer or things we can help with.

September 24 update: We've now officially joined Open Collective Europe and are ready to accept donations again! Our page is still the same: https://opencollective.com/wikis-world. Note that while it says we have $0 in our account right now; that's not correct, ~$491 USD will be transferred back to us (our balance before the move).

The following message was sent to people who had recurring donations that were paused:

Hi all,

Your recurring donation was paused earlier in the year because Open Collective Foundation was shutting down; we've now joined Open Collective Europe (same platform, different non-profit entity) and can begin accepting contributions again.

We encourage you to resume your recurring donation, but you're under no obligation to do so. (Please note that while the OpenCollective page says we have $0 right now, we actually have around $500 USD that just hasn't been transferred back into our new account.)

Thanks! As always, let us know if you have any questions.
