Wikis World/2023-01

Happy new year and 3 months of Wikis World! As of 2023-01-12, Wikis World currently has 82 users (up slightly from last month's 66).

You may have noticed that some images now have a yellow border around them, this is to highlight the lack of alternative text. ALT text is used by users with screen readers or other assistive devices to know what an image contains if they can't see it. The specific styles we used are here; if you're on another instance, you can enable a user style in your browser for a similar effect. Thanks to Lucas for working on this feature!

On the moderation side of things, most of the work is proactively blocking problematic instances before they cause problems for our users. Since the last report we've blocked 30 different domains, relying on reports from other admins/moderators via #fediblock.
