These are the basic guidelines for the event.
Guidelines for the event
editBackdrop activities:
edit- Spread word through social media
- Get contact details
- Encourage new people from outside the community to join.
Hiking Equipment requirements
edit- Rucksac
- Sleeping Bag ( If you have none, bring some light blankets)
- Trekking shoes (Sports shoes are also O.K.)
- Walking poles (If you have none, try some long wooden sticks from the trail.)
- Tents (may be needed, if staying outside in the wild is planned)
- Sunglasses.
- Torches
Photographic requirements:
edit- Digital Camera.
- Disable on-image timestamps or other data that appears over-top of images.
- Please empty the memory card.
Activities:
edit- Brief the participants about the purpose of the exploratory trek.
- Start the trek from Uniyan at scheduled date and time.
- Upload the pics on Wikimedia Commons after completion.
- Create new articles or improve old articles in English and at least one Indic language Wikipedia.
Dos and Don'ts for the event.

edit- Its a 42 km long trek through hilly areas. So, use walking poles and trekking shoes.
- Porters will not be hired. So, distribute the weight of the entire luggage of the team equally to each members.
- If someone in the team gets tired, others stop, rest and then walk.
- Always look for the weather. If it turns bad, look for natural shelters.
- Click at will. Do not worry about the angles/ nitty gritties of the photo or your camera skills!
- Try and take a clear shot.
- Note down the list of places, temples and other landscapes that you photograph.
- If you learn something new, do pass on the info. It would be very useful to update in the Wikipedia pages.
Do not:
edit- Do not run or leave others behind. This is not a race.
- Do not take pictures of people without permission - Always maintain a level of decency and try not to breach privacy
- Remember that all photos will be used for Wikipedia, hence do not include personal photos.
- Do not take photos where it is prohibited to do so.
- Do not watermark the images you wish to upload to the Wikimedia Commons.
- Do not leave behind any garbage in the mountains. Collect them in a waste bag and when you return to Haridwar, dump them in a dust bin.
