 Welcome to the meta portal for Wikipedia Asian Month! Wikipedia Asian Month (WAM) is an annual online event that aims to promote Asian content in Wikipedia. Since 2015, each participating local community runs an online Edit-a-thon every November, which promotes the creation or improvement of the Wikipedia content about Asia except their own country. The participating community is not limited to Asia. The project is run across various language-specific Wikipedias and other project websites of the Wikimedia Foundation (Wikimedia movement), however, some specific actions are held in some countries and Wikimedia communities with local organisers. Wikipedia Asian Month has achieved much over 5 years: over 37,500 high-quality articles have been added in more than 63 language-specific Wikipedias by more than 2,900 Wikipedia editors. | |||||||||
For Wikipedia Asian Month a CentralNotice will be set up centrally. This page is created to organize a CentralNotice for Wikipedia Asian Month.
Introduction edit
To attract the attention for the contest Wikipedia Asian Month, the international team will create a banner that will be shown on top of page on Wikipedia, and plan to set up a banner in the CentralNotice during the month of November. This banner will link to your event page. The banner will be activated only if you meet the requirements, and have provided a link to the event page and translation(s) of the banner text in your local language(s) on this page below.
We can only activate the banner in time, if you have provided us all the translations and information in time. If provided in time, the banner will be activated in your community after the start of the contest in your community.
Who should it be targeted to? edit
The banners in this campaign will be specifically calling people to participate in the contest in their community. While they can also participate in other community, they will be directed to their own community event page to keep it simple.
The campaign hope to especially targeted to anonymous users, so that the awareness goal of this contest is reached best.
When & Where edit
The banners will run during the Wikipedia Asian Month contest. This will be 1 - 30 November 2020. When necessary, the first days may be used for testing in specific communities or sampled (show to 1 in n users). In a few communities, an alternative period can be used, but the banner usage will be limited to one month at most. The banners will only be shown in the participating communities.
Also, we can only do that if you or your Wikipedia community want to have it enabled in community and if you provide sufficient information.

Requirements edit
The banner will only be activated if the participating communities satisfies the requirements as mentioned on "Wikipedia Asian Month/Organise", including:
- The text(s) for the banner translated in the primary language(s) spoken in your community is added to this page.
- The link for the banner to a event page is provided in the table below.
- The event page contains (provided in the languages of your community):
- It contains the contest rules, see: "Wikipedia Asian Month 2020/Rules#Contest Rules".
- It contains a link to the Fountain tool website: https://fountain.toolforge.org/.
- To be eligible to win a prize, participants in the contest must submit their contributions through the Fountain tool.
- The event page must also contain information about the prizes (postcards).
CentralNotice edit
The banner will contain one or two sentences, the Wikipedia Asian Month logo. The banner will call to participate in Wikipedia Asian Month and win postcard (the exact combination and wording depends on the language). We offer one default banner.
We want to have the banner in multiple languages, please provide the text of the banner in all of those languages. Please add all of this information in the list below. In the table below are also communities that do not participate in this year's Wikipedia Asian Month, just ignore those: they are there for administrative purposes only. Available texts are at the moment:
