Wikipedia Administrative Pages Analytics/Needs

These are the needs that the Wikipedia Administrative Pages Analytics project addresses. We list them below, mentioning the type of user or group to which the need refers.

Community

  • Maintain and update policy, help, and administrative pages in general (Community).
  • Be inclusive of all types of editors in the governance and creation of Wikipedia (Community).

Editor

  • Identify which pages need to be edited (Editor).
    • Identify which pages are most consumed (have the most impact) on newcomers.
    • Identify which pages are less inclusive and are not being edited by editors of different generations (especially newcomers).
    • Identify which pages would be useful to create, given that they are essential in other languages.
    • Identify which pages could be deleted or archived.
  • Understand which administrative pages are currently being edited (Editor).
  • Understand the state of maintenance of the different types of administrative pages of a language version (Editor).
  • Identify which other language editions to take as a reference to extend the pages (Editor).

Chapters and Foundation

  • Understand the degree of inclusion of the different types of administrative pages of a language version (Editor, Chapter)
  • Understand the degree and diversity of development of the administrative pages in the different Wikipedia language editions (Editor, Community, Chapter, Foundation).

Other non-addressed needs in this phase of the project:

  • Understand the readability of an admin page.
  • Know the impact of an admin page on the editor retention rates.
